2025 Dubai Morning Desert Safari: A Complete Review

Sliding Down: The Fun of Sandboarding

After the excitement of the dune bashing, right, you get to try another activity: sandboarding. Basically, it’s like snowboarding, but you’re on sand instead of snow. The guide will pull out these boards that look a lot like snowboards, but they don’t have bindings. You just stand on them and try to balance as you slide down a sand dune. In fact, it sounds harder than it actually is. They pick a dune that is not too steep, so it’s pretty much perfect for people trying for the first time. The guide gives you a few tips, like bending your knees and, you know, leaning back a little. It’s all very informal and just about having a bit of fun, to be honest.

So, you grab a board and trudge up the dune, which is, by the way, the hardest part of the whole thing. Walking in soft sand is a surprisingly good workout. But once you get to your starting spot, you just point the board downhill and go for it. The first time you will probably fall over, and that’s honestly part of the fun. Tumbling into the soft, warm sand doesn’t hurt at all. After a try or two, you sort of get the hang of it and can make it all the way to the bottom. It’s an incredibly fun feeling, just gliding down the dune with the desert all around you. Everyone in our group, you know, was trying it and laughing. You can go as many times as you want, until you get tired of walking back up the hill, anyway.

A Gentle Pace: The Camel Trekking Experience

Alright, so after all that fast-paced action, it’s time to slow things down. The next part of the morning is, arguably, the most iconic: the camel ride. These animals are just amazing up close, much taller than you might think and very gentle. The handlers help you get on, which is a bit of an adventure in itself as the camel stands up in a kind of jerky motion. But once you’re up there and settled into the saddle, it’s a really cool experience. The ride itself is not very long, usually around 15 to 20 minutes, but it’s more about the feeling than the distance. You just move at a slow, rocking pace, which gives you a completely different view of the desert.

Riding a camel allows you to, like, connect with the history of the place. You can just imagine how people traveled across these exact sands for thousands of years. It’s a very peaceful and almost reflective kind of activity. The world just feels quieter from up there. You can focus on the small details, like the patterns the wind makes in the sand or the odd little desert plant. It’s the perfect contrast to the noisy 4×4 ride and a really good way to wind down the morning’s adventures. Of course, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for photos. Getting a picture of yourself on a camel with the golden dunes in the background is, pretty much, a must-do for any trip to Dubai.

Final Tips for Your Morning Adventure

So, if you’re thinking about doing this, there are a few things to keep in mind, you know, to make your experience better. It’s definitely a good idea to book your tour in advance, especially if you’re visiting during the busy season, just to make sure you get a spot. In other words, you don’t want to miss out. Most tours offer similar things, but it’s always good to check what is included, like drinks or snacks. Ours had cold water and soft drinks, which were very welcome after running up and down sand dunes. It’s that kind of small thing that makes a difference.

For what to bring with you, think about practicality. You absolutely want to wear light, comfortable clothing. And shoes are important too; sneakers or other closed-toe shoes are a good idea, as sandals will just fill up with sand instantly. As I was saying, don’t forget your sunglasses and a hat because the sun can get quite strong, even in the morning. Sunscreen is also a very good idea, for obvious reasons. And finally, bring your camera or phone fully charged. The morning light in the desert is just incredible, and you’ll want to capture those moments. Honestly, you’re going to take way more pictures than you think you will.
