Then you see something like the Unfinished Obelisk, still attached to the bedrock in the quarry, and you kind of wonder about the story behind why it was never finished. Still, the absolute highlight for a lot of people is the Temple of Philae. You actually have to take a little motorboat to get to it because it was moved to a different island to save it from the rising waters, which is a pretty incredible story in itself. It is, you know, a very beautiful and peaceful place.

Day 5: Sailing Feluccas and Nubian Culture

On your last full day, you get a real taste of Aswan’s very special character. A lot of trips include a ride on a felucca, which is, like, a traditional wooden sailboat, you know? It’s so quiet and relaxing; you just hear the wind in the sail and the water lapping against the boat, which is really nice.
