1. Ventanas: Industrial Views Meet the Ocean
Ventanas, it might be said, which is nearly a half-hour’s drive north of Ritoque, presents that really interesting combination of industrial activity right next to some truly striking oceanic views. That blend may sound kind of odd, and it certainly can be, that said the contrast it offers, in a way, makes it a really memorable place to check out. Is that beach good to go for some chill time? I am not so sure, really, because Ventanas has these two distinct sides, and you will feel like you’re straddling both. Any trip up to Ventanas is, basically, really quite insightful if you give it half a chance.
Now that the industrial aspect that folks might want to consider might appear a bit much at first glance, actually the community and views kind of balance that experience. You know the coastal scenery is amazing, especially around sunset. Or that is what my opinion is anyway, so it tends to be an opportunity to snap some photos you couldn’t get somewhere else. I suppose it would be useful if I suggested packing some snacks or thinking of where you would like to dine beforehand, really, because options might be more limited than in typical tourist hotspots. I figure Ventanas offers you a gritty but authentic coastal view which might be right up your alley.

While walking along the coastline, it might be a good idea to check out artisan shops. Is the public art grabbing your attention? Maybe that’s something. Horcón often hosts little local craft markets so too it’s something to have a quick look through them for that really original keepsake or memento. I will add, and it sounds minor, I am sure, but that beach here might be a spot for an easy stroll, very. Roughly fifteen minutes up the road from Ritoque you arrive at Maitencillo, that lovely spot that, as a matter of fact, caters to a combination of sunbathers, families and that is usually water sports nuts, very. With a slightly longer sandy beach than we’ve been discussing it is fair to say Maitencillo gives a space perfect for strolling along. As I was saying, there is room to actually take things really slowly. Still, if relaxing just isn’t on the agenda and your trip needs some doing rather than sitting, there tend to be a lot of water sports at your fingertips from windsurfing to paddleboarding. The area here really does provide something for everyone, you see, meaning no one is going to be bored for an instant!
Maitencillo tends to have several restaurants alongside that coast so in some respects you won’t go wanting for spots to kick back and grab some food or drinks if you have the munchies. Think about spending the morning having a try at surfing. You could use those places that give lessons right here. And, maybe that sounds a little more laid-back, basically after that chill in the afternoon at one the many beachside cafés. The fact is, there, Zapallar seems to be considered among the fancier coastal spots within that part of Chile which makes a place kind of known as this retreat for Chile’s upper crust. Think about wandering up the trails in Parque Nacional El Boldo; the landscape there is wonderful even when a good coastal view isn’t really what you are there for! Dining-wise I mean there seem to be quite a lot of options around in Zapallar, alright, however expect those to sit higher on that expense column in many cases.
