Wallonia, the southern region of Belgium, actually has some pretty captivating places and experiences just waiting for you, and planning your visit in a car seems like it gives you so much opportunity to explore everything. Instead of relying totally on public transport, that can be, like, kind of restricting, think about doing these great road trips at your pace. Whether you are very into history, enjoy just looking at the beautiful landscape, or both, Wallonia’s roads, just waiting, give you amazing tours that should meet a lot of different tastes. So, let’s jump straight to, almost, some of the coolest routes you may just love.

1. The Ardennes Forest Drive

The Ardennes, basically, are a fantastic area and this trip, especially if you dig outdoor stuff and nature is for you. Drive into dense forests and along rivers like the Meuse as it winds onward. Make a visit to locations of old battles – that, of course, if old fights and war memorials move you in some respect or the other – and cozy, old villages. Stop in Bouillon with its huge castle, as I was saying. Don’t forget the Rochehaut viewpoint; you can nearly look forever across the Semois Valley; and while you’re up there, think about just spending a minute, at least, and grabbing the beauty of everything from above.

Highlights: Bouillon Castle is great because it gives you a history lesson as it dominates the scenery. Next, The High Fens Nature Reserve has, in fact, amazing walks amid bogs and wild landscapes that, in some respects, just sort of exist in Belgium. After that, Durbuy Adventure Valley offers kayaking or other thrilling things, typically making it a day all can love, just a little. You can, in fact, eat yummy foods and just savor area drinks at old cafes. It could be some kind of treat after all that time outdoors, and very fun, even.

2. Historic Cities and Abbeys Route

This trip might appeal the very most to the history fans since you hit great historical locations. Take a leisurely look into old places like Tournai, which has, arguably, some the most famous church towers around – very interesting sight and some of the ancient around there is something too it’s almost that has to be experienced to truly understand – and head down the peaceful countryside through Abbeys still active, as I was saying; like, actually, that’s where awesome beer and cheeses get crafted using those methods people thought were important in other, pretty simpler periods. Afterwards, move further and examine the Roman history in and around Mons and its interesting belfry on the city’s market square, or the Grand Place, so named in the very center.

Highlights: Tournai Cathedral’s gothic style might just bring some to complete quiet from wonder and admiration; not so shocking it should just capture you like this if architectural beauty moves you! Villers Abbey then provides those spooky and amazing old ruin trips. Next, don’t forget stopping at some breweries in nearby Abbeys; take beer-sampling visits – or so very very good cheeses also that, arguably, provide genuine preferences for local meals that can change every meal stop, maybe actually even every bit, if the cheese is a great choice. To just top everything, that tour goes through Mons City’s amazing, historic city center location – you probably will simply lose yourself right away as, arguably, some would – because something like that could probably make folks see and almost live within different lives even these days, more or less.

3. The Sambre-Meuse Valley Route

Follow the River Meuse when it carves on across some seriously stunning country; or as some call it; areas which aren’t boring. Stop where they make cool products like Dinant where those saxophones they craft for worldwide artists make very appealing, nearly essential sound – or just walk among riverside spots that have big cliffs beside them. Think about exploring Namur with an imposing Citadelle just towering right where both Rivers cross before finding beautiful park sides – where a little calmness for a while does some decent relaxation in between journeys if needed! Then visit industrial museums within older towns like Charleroi – giving one interesting, maybe shocking perspectives to, arguably, how hard stuff worked out through Wallonia’s changing times of factories working, that tends to give it one almost alien and strange kind a vibe there too…

Highlights: Get out in Dinant. If history moves you, then visiting a spot for crafting iconic saxophones provides all to understand more things since that is almost one essential spot when visiting there as an idea anyway… Go upwards to Namur as Citadelle sits right to catch fantastic surroundings almost all just under or even maybe far away around too… Last be a Charleroi to look within industry exhibits showcasing almost, arguably, old working scenes around towns back by many wallonia ages now. Take benefit and get yourself snacks and maybe small local shopping items that often remind from that road journey, that arguably is so neat you wanna kinda hold within and for almost ages anyway; but not forgetting just live during then moment if things look nice to the individual while driving…!

4. Gaume: The Belgian Provence

Have you got a heart for calmer drives? That route to Gaume tends to just relax and impress with very nice open countryside scenery a bit like the kind some spots in Province provide – it might well blow one’s head due how simple this region tends to be if from major loud cities anyway…. See around a few cool rock homes found by Montmedy. Wander via that Orval Brewery. Or as I am thinking from others… check one of all peaceful village sides away or just walk everywhere without any targets; might allow one understand just so much simpler kind of enjoyment, if people like peace and quiet more than crowded loud days.

Highlights: Visit a Montmedy location that shows so pretty cool scenery with big big cool walls close to spots around to view cool wall types etc…. Do also an Abbey by the name “Orval”, where they’re brewing nice brews; sampling many kind almost makes one just wonder exactly these brewers act for making unique batches (obviously this applies those with +21 or local required minimal legal drinking rules etc though remember).. Visit super peaceful neighborhoods away because life may feel easier/happy without crowds. Get an eye to discover small things as almost those areas typically give just all kinds experiences.

5. The Waterways and Canals Tour

Taking water ways seems peaceful and makes something pretty chill by some Wallonia portions. Check cool ships up the Thieu boat lift since its like nobody actually feels nothing that high if people do dare see those things work… Drive past other water spots/channels nearby till just find places by the Strepy-Thieu Boat elevator for views since probably they show impressive engineering – but then be there or at near by sites as sunset passes to check cool evening skies across water. Afterwards stroll cool parks in smaller communities along. Basically these waterways seem relaxing while driving as something interesting might be up round following roads while doing drives too and its just great even sometimes.

Highlights: Don’t skip where many visit lifts boat close Thieu; what might be kinda neat views… Look for views close somewhere high along elevator at Streets for watching, you know. Consider walking through somewhere very cool like those areas close, almost providing fun parks because relaxing really does well always by those routes always.
