1. Britannia Mine Museum: More Than Just Rocks
Yeah, I get that the Britannia Mine Museum might sound a bit, well, not really artsy. Is that accurate? But honestly, it’s more than a museum full of rocks, it is actually an insight into human endeavor, ingenuity, and so forth the story of a mining community. The whole experience, that begins from the ride on the train into the mine to all the stories that’s told about the people who literally built their lives there, can be quite moving. Very neat, and I’d even say thought-provoking.
When you see those old machines and that mill – Mill No. 3, very large piece of architecture standing really strong against the landscape – you’re basically witnessing industrial artwork, basically. The scale, the complexity… so you kinda appreciate the engineering skill, and I’m pretty sure this is gonna surprise quite some of you. That they all just built this. More or less using just hands. Basically pretty cool.
