Bunbury actually has quite a neat collection of places where you could stretch your legs and soak up the Aussie atmosphere, like your own backyard but way cooler, almost. I will give you my top five picks for open-air fun in this area; they’re sure to tickle your fancy. If you want an adventure mixed with a little bit of natural beauty, stick around.

1. Koombana Bay: Dolphins and Seaside Fun

That being the main attraction: Koombana Bay, in Bunbury is very special; that is where wild bottlenose dolphins seem to frequently swing by and play right off the beach, which seems amazing. Seeing these animals in their natural habitat, swimming so close, actually brings a unique feeling that’s truly magical and a very personal touch, in a way. The Dolphin Discovery Centre there organizes encounters where you get a chance to meet and even interact with these gentle giants in the water, yet with safe distance so that everyone’s being careful.

2. Leschenault Inlet: Bird Watching and Tranquil Waters

Maybe if you just want to explore an ecosystem with water in it, it turns out that Leschenault Inlet might be up your alley; the inlet runs southward from Bunbury, with many birds there to spot in that environment. Bring a camera so that, seemingly you could get shots of different birds from various hides or walkways. It may give some other places a run for their money!

If you want to travel through Leschenault in a cooler way, rather, there’s the option of kayaking or canoeing for you to glide along at your own speed, really giving you plenty of scope. With that much freedom, I can just picture that this whole experience offers this gorgeous opportunity to unwind and to basically admire everything. A place that’s popular could be the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park; that is very neat because it separates the estuary and the ocean while providing a lot to discover on both sides with various walking trails, like your own playground!

3. Bunbury Wildlife Park: Meet the Locals

What could you expect to find, I wonder? Well, if you’re keen to see Aussie animals up close, yet in some form of safety, this might be it. That park is home to loads of native critters; that ranges from kangaroos and emus through to wallabies and lots more besides that. That actually serves as an experience that might just give an idea of what local wildlife has to offer, you know?

Something you will want to take the kids, right? They get a real kick out of seeing the animals; very, very, basically being up close and interacting. Usually, there are feeding times; therefore, the kids will likely be able to pet and give some of the animals their afternoon tea or that, while at the same time getting up close to native animals in general.

4. Marlston Hill Lookout: Views for Miles

For just a spectacular panoramic view of Bunbury, the ocean, and surrounds, maybe you have to take yourself right up to Marlston Hill Lookout. Actually, the observation deck that sits right at the top really has quite stunning aspects across both Koombana Bay and the ocean in all its huge majesty.

Why not make the trek here towards sunset when you are near, too; therefore, as you unwind with that big, gorgeous glowing ball dropping towards the horizon, you could witness the most stunning scene you could have imagined for some time; anyway, that is, to just observe a spectacular view while feeling a nice breeze to just calm yourself.

5. Mangrove Boardwalk: Explore an Estuary

Maybe, should you love watching the local environments, perhaps go take a relaxing wander and explore, particularly one located beside some tranquil water, then it might appear that that Mangrove Boardwalk in Bunbury turns out amazing. Well, they are interesting ecosystems by themselves. Well, these structures serve two important purposes as part of a location.

And really, one may experience nature; as one travels on it, the boardwalk has proven very popular to local residents with more knowledge of that particular environment. Very easily seen and approached off either Koombana Drive and that other one off the Australind Bypass near that place over at The Plaza, and then one more near to where Estuary Drive finishes. The access has gotten more impressive with time, really!

Perhaps what makes such treks worth everyone’s while could very well be what there appears. Mangroves play an important role within local ecosystems right where you go. Therefore, perhaps you will notice local crab species scuttling sideways over these parts and fish life hidden below on those low tides; they will really all have some neat purpose or quality anyway.
