Top Thousand Islands Eats: A Foodie’s Delight
If you’re thinking about a trip to the Thousand Islands, which, as a matter of fact, I think you should, you might very well be picturing serene boat rides and maybe just a bit of island hopping. Of course, it’s almost about the breathtaking scenery. Yet, it’s also true that this beautiful region comes with a collection of seriously awesome places to eat and drink. So, let me let you in on some of the best spots I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. I’ll give you the inside scoop, like your personal food tour guide, or something like that.
The Clipper Inn: Where Tradition Meets Taste
First up is The Clipper Inn, located right in Clayton. That is something to note, especially as the waterfront views just add to the whole dining thing. Now, you may very well find this place somewhat special due to, you know, its history. You see, the Inn’s been around since, like, 1878. This history really adds to that dining buzz. As a matter of fact, this buzz definitely resonates across The Thousand Islands, but, like, only in a good way. Anyway, what I found that really stood out was, actually, the seafood, because they clearly know how to cook the seafood very well, or so it seems. So, yeah, that’s The Clipper Inn.
Their menu, at least in some respects, mixes some of the old favorite food styles and flavors and styles from the region, but also adds a twist to your usual sea fare, almost. Anyway, that is something really attractive to anyone wanting that ‘local’ taste. But, anyway, I got really chatting to one of the owners there, and I remember them mentioning they get their ingredients directly from local suppliers. What happens then, I imagine, is that the ingredients are fresh, plus they are basically supporting those Thousand Islands small businesses. That’s definitely something I am always very supportive of! If you’re in Clayton, I might be nudging you this way. Check them out; here’s their The Clipper Inn Clayton Thousand Islands Full Review and Details and also you can see their prices, availability, & maybe even reserve it right now (here).
Wood Boat Brewery: Ales and Tales
Okay, now for something just a bit different, have you been to the Wood Boat Brewery in Clayton? So, their brewery, at the end of the day, combines this passion for boats–wood boats at that– and that of handcrafted beers, right? Yeah, right. And that’s what really came across to me, when I actually visited, the very clear dedication they show when making these beers. So, I think I should mention to you all, very clearly, that this place really gets, well, seriously gets the feel and general vibe of what the Thousand Islands is basically all about.
Of course, you will find all sorts there. However, just a little recommendation is for you to try any of their small batch ales, or one of their seasonal selections; but, of course, it is almost entirely dependent on what they might have on offer, as a matter of fact, or what sort of mood you are even in! I just thought it was a really nice touch as to how the names of the beer are linked very heavily to the wooden boat culture – “Triple Screwed IPA,” for example, yet. I should mention that what they offer really moves through the food-sphere spectrum, like with different choices, right? The best thing? If the beers don’t get your engine running, it’s okay! They usually have great wines and great cocktail menus available, you know? If you find yourself in Clayton, give them a shot; you can find more info via their Wood Boat Brewery Clayton Thousand Islands Full Review and Details but of course, maybe take a peek at pricing, and so on and maybe pre-reserve some stuff for you and your gang right here (now)!
Thousand Islands Winery: Grape Expectations
Basically, what can I say, or how can I say, about a winery that just isn’t repetitive, well… it’s basically a winery, isn’t it? And it’s doing something that wineries do. In other words, make wine. The winery offers just a huge escape in amongst all those vineyards! What they do is offer wine tasting, or even host some form of event that is not always based upon wine tasting – who knows, yet? The place is just lovely and spacious, too; they actually welcome just about everyone, you see?
Of course, I do have just a small recommendation. Try their ‘Frontenac’ – well, only because I actually love this particular wine so much, especially, I suppose, because I can match it with literally all foods! So, there, I let the cat of the bag, as it were, I have wines for particular food types, that is something that will never ever leave me, you see? That being said, and as always, explore their collection because I don’t expect, at least I don’t want you to think that this winery literally only sells this singular wine – who knows what diamond in the rough you can pick up? Anyway, you know where I am going with this; take a look here at their Thousand Islands Winery Full Review and Details and be sure to maybe take a quick gander as to how to actually pre-book, right over here (book now)
The Guzzle: Comfort Food with a View
Alright, now we get to somewhere I actually love visiting every single time, namely, The Guzzle, found right over in Alexandria Bay, yes, or also known as, of course, Alex Bay for all you cool people! It looks very much the standard comfort-styled restaurant, however, its food and drinks really push this very far from that narrative, in some respects. That being said, the actual views, or scenery, is only bettered or made better, if you will, when combined with their very, very large menu choice – of almost all the sorts of American-style, grill styled choices you might even imagine!
Okay, okay, this might be another place I can seriously let the cat out of the bag – because every single time I always ever order their Lobster Mac and Cheese because, to be honest, it just hits my soul, every time. They add so much local and regionally styled flavoring and style, especially from some of the local cheeses, you might find. The bar options and bar styling just make this restaurant extremely good, no matter who you may well be, so, you can seriously get that cocktail, mocktail or literally anything else without, as a matter of fact, worry. Again, same as above. See how I feel, find more by just taking a peek at their The Guzzle Alexandria Bay Thousand Islands Full Review and Details and don’t just think about doing something for your gut but instead DO IT over at (The Guzzle).
Riley’s by the River: Casual Dining, Elevated Flavors
What I think I noticed just by visiting, or almost even peering at its exterior alone, Riley’s by the River just adds so much elegance to that standard type of small-town dinner styled places; this is something great. Riley’s is, well, something in Cape Vincent – it is actually known for delivering some brilliant food alongside literally superb riverside scenic views – oh, and of course – those sunsets. The word on the street is that there is nothing greater than viewing the summer sunsets right by the restaurant, right? And with something tasty to nibble on. You may or may not hear similar things!
So, what would my recommendation here be, hmmm, difficult! Just because it has more options that would, as a matter of fact, appeal to myself. Their menu, especially their ‘catch-of-the-day styled menus’, really pushes how very local the fish are, you see? This, for myself, just is something brilliant. Just remember, it might very well depend upon when you actually visit this restaurant in terms of how well you can dine riverside because, you know, it might actually depend on factors. Do yourself a favor. Check their food info via Riley’s by the River Cape Vincent Full Review and Details or if this just might seem like your type of eatery maybe, actually, get the planning down sooner, rather than later (start planning now)
