Top Brussels Travel Services: My Personal Review
Brussels, right, so it’s that European city famous not only for chocolate and beer but, arguably, also for, you know, a transport network that can make or break your visit, almost. Let me tell you, so I have spent a bunch of time figuring this town out, more or less, and, well, now I’m going to share what I’ve learned with like your good self, basically. This review should help you, or at least that’s the idea.
1. STIB-MIVB: The Heart of Brussels Public Transport
STIB-MIVB, yeah, so it’s the big cheese when it comes to metros, trams, and buses here, you know? Honestly, if you’re trying to, maybe, see Brussels without blowing all your cash on taxis, like your this is where you kick things off. That being said, that first time hopping on the metro? Is that ever fun trying to work it all out… Not.
What’s Great
Coverage: This is like your, kind of, the veins in the city, connecting everywhere. So, whether you’re headed to the Atomium or, just, some waffle shop, you’re most probably set, I reckon.
Affordability: Forget those scary taxi prices; STIB-MIVB is much cheaper, more or less. Seriously, buying a multi-day pass means you’re, like, sorted. That will set you back just a little more, maybe.
App, actually: Download their app; honestly it makes things so much more breezy to map routes and manage tickets, actually.
Things to Bear in Mind
Peak Times, arguably: Cramped metros at commute o’clock are not, so, a giggle. Try to ride off-peak if you like your own space, perhaps?
Occasional Hiccups, right: Strikes or random delays can muck up your plans. It’s typically nice to have a plan B, as a matter of fact.

Overall, you know, using STIB-MIVB right, it can take a little getting your head around but for someone looking to see Brussels without having to declare bankruptcy, then yeah, it makes a load of sense. Also, if you download that app? Yeah, like it is actually useful.

2. Taxis in Brussels: When You Want Door-to-Door
Taxis, honestly, they’re great when, right, so you can’t be bothered faffing about with public transport or, like, you are dragging a ton of baggage. But watch the euros pile up, just, right.
What’s Great
Super Convenient: Tell them where you want to get to and like your that’s the only thing you have to think about, kind of.
Available All Hours: Getting around after the metro stops, now, usually that isn’t a worry.
Things to Bear in Mind
The Costs, though: Short rides can, like, seem really expensive if you have spent the rest of the week getting on public transport and, arguably, during peak times that could actually get a whole lot more expensive still.
Dodgy Drivers, kind of: Very occasionally, I think some drivers might try to ramp up the fare, if that makes sense, especially if you appear just a little lost.
My Takeaway
Basically, taxis? Almost a lifesaver when you’re dead on your feet or you’re loaded down with bags, but try and check the journey on your phone if you have data, you know? Not a long term daily thing to get around in.

3. Uber in Brussels: A Ride-Sharing Choice
Uber, now, I think it offers, arguably, a middle ground when compared to normal taxis and public transport if that makes sense, and it is nice to have that choice, I think, so.
What’s Great
Generally, Easier to Get, right: Often, just a bit simpler to snag an Uber than trying to hail a cab from the street, seemingly.
Price Transparency: So, that estimated fare upfront? Is actually pretty good in practice and not a world away from what you might pay in the end.
Things to Bear in Mind
Legality, just a little: Regulations can be different depending on, well, actually which part of Brussels you’re in. Seemingly, best check that, basically.
Surge Pricing, even: During peak times you will not believe what you are paying so that bit with the fare, yes well it gets complicated and that “fare” may have doubled now. If that makes sense.
My Takeaway
Yeah, use it, if the mood fits but make sure you watch for surge pricing, almost, so then you don’t have any big nasty surprises at the end, basically.

4. Train: Getting to and from Brussels
The train, almost certainly the best thing to use if you’re coming from or headed to another country or another spot in Belgium, almost. So, efficient and usually saves you money when compared to taking planes, as a matter of fact.
What’s Great
Speed: Hitting cities like Paris or Amsterdam suddenly looks easy, right, when you don’t have to worry about the whole, you know, “airport” palaver.
Relaxing, actually: I love how, typically, you can watch the landscape going past instead of being crammed in a tiny plane seat, basically. Yeah, that’s my thing.
Things to Bear in Mind
Ticket Costs: So, international fares? Can cost you if you don’t get a booking well in advance, you see.
Delays: As with the rest of European countries so services do sometimes run late. Not the end of all things, but not great if, maybe, you have a plane to catch.
My Takeaway
In other words, planning is, typically, the key, here, almost. Basically, get those tickets purchased as soon as you figure things out and save a bunch of cash, usually.

5. Airport Transfers: Zaventem & Charleroi
So, when you’re going to or from Zaventem or Charleroi airports, right, thinking, then, about how you will transfer, is a consideration if that makes sense. Public transport can take a bit of getting to, right, but is, usually, better than just bankrupting yourself by booking taxis every time.
What’s Great
Various Options: Right, you can grab dedicated airport buses, pre-booked shuttles, and, of course, trains, still. Something to suit everyone, is that right.
Fixed Prices, though: Pre-booked services mean you don’t need to worry about surge pricing, you see. Basically.
Things to Bear in Mind
Travel Time, in fact: Getting to some airports might be longer than others; I mean Charleroi is a bit far out.
Potential Hassle: Managing bags on buses, now, it can be, just, kind of, less than great when they are rammed to the gills and some services are rare so not for you if you want your pick of transport all night.
My Takeaway
Basically, consider the amount of kit you have and how long you wish to spend traveling, almost, then think, too, of when you arrive, more or less, to pick the most awesome plan to suit you, in effect. Honestly though it’s better to arrange beforehand if that works for you and also just gets it out the way.
