Lisbon, that city, is certainly one with a certain magnetism, almost pulling you back time and again. It isn’t just those postcard viewpoints or yummy custard tarts. Nope, it has to do with that feeling you get simply wandering those sunny streets. Still, what is that you do after you drink up all that history? Actually, that area around the monastery is something that will offer some truly fantastic outdoor fun. Let’s take a look at five things you could do to, really make a day of it!
1. Belem Tower: Glimpses from the Past
Right then, after that monastery visit, a little jaunt down to Belém Tower seems the right thing to do. It is almost like something from a fairy tale. This is especially so with the way it stands proud at the water’s edge. As a matter of fact, it served as something of a defense system way back when; Belém Tower very much saw those great explorers setting sail, so in some respects, it acts as a symbol for Portugal’s period exploring the planet by sea. More or less, you might enjoy strolling around that tower, that is, soaking in those riverside views. Is that something you should photograph? Actually, it most certainly is.

So too is that caravel-like shape. Seemingly that shape has a whole heap of stone figures paying homage to folk such as Vasco da Gama and Henry that Navigator. Now, you may take a lift to the peak for that wide sweep of Belém, or perhaps ponder those world maps displayed beneath. Clearly that is just perfect for daydreaming up an expedition or two! Also, a stroll right along that Tagus River after? Actually, there’s something restorative about the river, it is.
