Headed north on AL-101 is where you will discover Maragogi, almost renowned as the “Brazilian Caribbean.” Why so? The waters and natural pools nearly look straight out of a movie, honestly, that is amazing. That coastline drive itself really passes via quite a few scenic spots, but Maragogi tends to be, the grand finale.
There is that swimming in the natural pools there. Very different to the tourist stuff. The reef forms lagoons with crystal-clear water, more or less brimming with those little fish. This is not like a typical beach, the natural wonder is worth traveling for. It really provides some unique and spectacular fun.
Drive Time: Nearly two to three hours, a day trip. But stay a night for that quieter atmosphere.

3. Historical Hideaway: Marechal Deodoro
Something you would enjoy. Take AL-101 south briefly, you find Marechal Deodoro, a historical town just full of personality. That’s where Brazil’s first president actually came from, but honestly, there are colonial buildings here that shout out charm at all different corners. Take that break from that shore to get into Brazil’s history and the old world allure.
Here is the game changer: there are sights to visit. Make sure to explore the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos. In some respects, this has actually become a symbol of the location, due to it’s charm. Plus, you will discover lots of historical building there that actually make that city pretty awesome.
Driving time: You’ll get there in like 40 minutes. Actually it is close enough to get over to in the afternoon and get to soak up a little something special about the area.

Now you could discover Rota Ecológica dos Milagres, or it is close to about a scenic drive between Maceió and Maragogi that shows off pristine beaches and serene lagoons. Along the AL-101 north, actually expect things like quaint fishing villages, coconut groves, and that just unbelievable peace you would only get away from the busy locations. I will say, this is pretty different to some locations around here. Enjoy the calm and beauty along that off beaten route.

This has actually gotten a reputation for clear pools with surf for fun. That actually makes it awesome for pretty much all beach goers who go there.
Why make a pitstop right here? It all has to do with choices. It might be to dip in the tranquil water, there are almost those strong waves you will see people surf, or actually go sit in the beach clubs.
