Huatulco Day Trips: Top 5 Adventures You Can’t Miss
Huatulco, so this collection of bays and beaches on Mexico’s Pacific coast, very, is that a pretty stellar spot for a getaway. Yet it isn’t just about lounging on the sand though. Just a little outside of Huatulco are seriously lots of awesome things waiting to be discovered. I mean, when you are planning what to see and do, thinking about taking a day trip can certainly up your vacation, right? That means you get to see things you wouldn’t normally. Basically, that’s why I made a list of what I think are some top notch options for you.
1. Explore the Bays of Huatulco by Boat
Visiting the bays should be your first activity, it seems, and like it could actually be the easiest. Typically, this involves taking a boat trip that visits several of Huatulco’s nine bays. Actually, the scenery is truly great, with crystal waters and untouched beaches all around, you see? Basically, most tours stop at places like La Entrega for some snorkeling, or maybe even at Playa Maguey where there is that opportunity to relax on the sand and actually grab some eats at the nearby restaurants. Very, very popular with people I know. Remember your sunscreen. I would hate to see you lobsterized. Very popular with tourists I’ve noticed.
Why you will find this trip great: You get to see a few different bays in a fairly short time, plus there’s usually that chance to snorkel and just chill. Sounds grand.
What to think about: I guess that tour times and what is included can change a little depending on which tour operator that you choose. Seemingly, shopping around might be worthwhile. I mean, you are going to be out on a boat for a pretty long time, I think, so make sure to pack some things, you know?

2. Visit the Copalita Eco-Archaeological Park
Interested in seeing ancient ruins? Right, this spot is just a bit outside Huatulco and actually features the remains of that old city that dates way back. Often, this park shows how pre-Hispanic cultures, you know, like the Zapotecs and Mixtecs, lived in this area. It’s very different, just walking around old temples and learning about what people did way back then, very different. You also get fairly stellar views of the Pacific from here.
Why you will find this trip great: The views and, that’s, like, that whole history element mixed together that is just cool.
What to think about: It usually gets very hot, so actually, bring water and that’s something loose and comfy to wear. You might want to have a tour guide explain the location.

3. Waterfalls at Llano Grande
Just a bit inland is the town of Llano Grande. Very much worth seeing if nature’s more like your vibe. That features some quite pretty waterfalls. Getting to these falls includes, actually, hiking through pretty much dense forest. So, yeah, it is kind of nice being around those big trees and plants as you’re going. Very fun and you feel alive.
Why you will find this trip great: Swimming under a waterfall after some fairly good hiking is certainly something special.
What to think about: I really do suggest wearing good hiking shoes because I slipped when I had sneakers the first time. Also, I would say just double check on transport from Huatulco because maybe you could rent a car. Not for everyone to just drive in Mexico.

4. Coffee Plantation Tour
Oaxaca, is that place where Huatulco lies, tends to be well known for making great coffee, just so you know? I’d suggest that, by visiting some local coffee plantations, you can watch just how coffee gets produced, usually from the bean to, right, your cup. You might want to know that many plantations offer tours that explain the whole growing process. Oh and tasting part can be pretty awesome, usually!
Why you will find this trip great: You learn where coffee comes from and, certainly, drink yummy, very fresh coffee.
What to think about: Often these tours are actually located higher up in that mountains, which can mean slightly cooler temps, and maybe bugs sometimes, so be prepared a bit?

5. Mazunte and the Mexican Turtle Center
Mazunte, basically, is a small coastal town not super far from Huatulco, that’s famous for the Mexican Turtle Center. Mazunte is not some crazy popular destination. Still pretty chill though. The Mexican Turtle Center actually does some very good work, if you have children especially. They help protect sea turtles by running, arguably, like, some type of educational exhibits. Besides the center, it is also pleasant to just relax on Mazunte’s beach and basically eat at those local cafes.
Why you will find this trip great: That Turtle Center makes, actually, a pretty stellar cause and Mazunte still, as I just mentioned, is kinda chill. Also zipolite beach, if that is your vibe, clothing optional!
What to think about: I guess the buses could be packed that way, so think about that private shuttle instead? Very worthwhile if you can swing it that way!
