That’s to say, it isn’t just about the beach and the historical sites; Hastings has got a growing food scene that deserves some attention. From super fresh seafood joints right through to those quirky little cafes, the town pretty much has something that fits what anyone would enjoy. So, lets take a stroll, in a way, down some of the best spots, yeah?

1. Rock-a-Nore Fisheries: A Seafood Lover’s Dream

Rock-a-Nore Fisheries Hastings

Right in the Old Town, that’s where you will come across Rock-a-Nore Fisheries. What I mean by that is, it’s a family-run spot with a reputation for seriously great seafood, that it is. You know, imagine yourself getting freshly caught fish, like, right off the boats—yep, that’s how they roll. A bit like your ideal spot by the sea, maybe?

The Setting: Well, Rock-a-Nore is set up near the iconic black net huts that Hastings is famous for, kind of adding this properly historic touch. I guess I can see that this backdrop almost makes eating there way more of an experience, as a matter of fact.

The Food: What should I be talking about? Freshness. Seriously though, I mean it. The fish and chips might be an actual essential; some would say their grilled fish dishes allow the real taste of the sea, literally, to sing. You see? Their seafood platters will often allow anyone to test a mix of what’s on offer. Mussels, prawns, maybe even some cockles get chucked in there. The prices for platters is a pretty good shout, depending on the catch of the day; that sounds fair, I suppose. As I was saying, expect to see what everyone considers fairly standard prices, though, you get to enjoy amazing quality.

A Little Story: A friend once told me about getting his “fish n’ chips” from there. Seriously, like, the queue might be long on a weekend, anyway he reckoned it was totally worth it. In short, that batter? Super crispy, like it should be, that it should. Cod was flaky and, really, like, you can tell that the fish had only come from the sea that day. The Ambience: This pub boasts this welcoming feel the minute anyone walks in. So it’s a friendly vibe that you get from its cozy fireplaces to these snug corners, with it being like stepping into this big hug after you have had a full day exploring, and so on. Okay, the vibe? Proper charming.

The Food: So it isn’t just your regular pub grub; they sort of focus on proper, locally sourced ingredients. Obviously, anyone should go for their classic pies that are always a hit with many locals, too it seems their specials board changes, just a little, pretty often depending on what ingredients are in season. As a matter of fact, the Sunday roasts have been considered particularly stellar and amazing. See Prices, Availability & Reserve Now (traditional pub Sunday roast)

Local’s Tip: Get talking to one of those bar staff members there. Some of them might be able to point to local ales, pretty delicious drinks that are worth trying. As I was saying, locals usually meet there for some sort of after-work drinks, I’ll bet that it means they are doing something right. If that’s cool with you, maybe? The overall score is really what you pay for! Is that something people say?

3. Cafe des Arts: Bohemian Charm and Tasty Treats

Cafe des Arts Hastings

What? Like quirky cafes? What I mean by that is, a bit unusual, something artistic; Cafe des Arts should grab your attention in the meantime. Almost like, it sits slightly back from the main drag, apparently becoming a hidden gem to some folk that’s absolutely ideal when it comes to lunch or afternoon chilling, literally, really, at the end of the day.

What it Looks Like: Bohemian chic! The way they set this up, well, think colorful art up on the walls, super comfy seating; so it has all sorts of odds and sods about the spot. It seems to offer somewhere to relax, and be yourself; anyway, the cafe does add, too, a certain creativity vibe that is felt by basically everyone.

Eat This: Here, anyone would say their homemade cakes and sandwiches, apparently, make their big mark. Yeah? They do great things with, like, vegan and gluten-free stuff that is delicious. 5. Petit Fi: A Slice of France in Hastings

Petit Fi Hastings

Looking at some cuisine that is slightly away with any kind of nautical touch (almost); and that’s a good thing to say: I mean how about a trip straight to a corner of France that has seemingly materialised in the historic town? Okay maybe just me. As a matter of fact that might literally only exist at Petit Fi, that place offers some really delicious authentic French cakes and drinks and stuff like that you may be after!

How it Looks?: Petit Fi isn’t quite like the place you would spend time by the sea; but you could grab anything nice on offer on a walk anyway (almost!). You will feel like what is being experienced has literally travelled here: everything has, pretty clearly been imported.

What should I be trying out though? Okay. Try all that they make: from proper chocolat chaud right though what I would say should become literally some kind of essential pastry tasting treat that everyone should experience there! Petit Fi gets seemingly, often described as pure gold – pure gold because not enough folk get why great baking may simply not reach some town.

For a treat that some call essential (some only may well even notice it; for them this may well just pass them by); anyway it shows some culture and has quite a reputation! The fact here is I am just telling this to you! You’re literally here to grab amazing food; they have literally had visitors tell all others Petit Fi simply should become visited on a day out here!
