So, you too can explore the five must-try spots on this gorgeous island? Let’s get going, then!
1. Medousa Tavern: A Seaside Seafood Dream
Medousa Tavern in Mandrakia is truly where the sea whispers stories right to your plate. It’s very tucked away in that cute little fishing village, so, it’s almost just the ideal setting for a long, relaxed meal. Medousa has, for example, that kind of laid-back charm. So the vibe makes you want to sit there for hours. Like your great food, great view, that sort of thing. What basically makes this place sing? Fresh seafood.
You should absolutely think about trying their grilled octopus or that lobster pasta – so you can literally taste the Aegean. That’s probably one of the best things about Medousa, too, because it really makes those flavors speak for themselves. This is that genuine taste of Milos. The service is usually friendly and attentive, and it certainly adds to that cozy atmosphere. Dining here, just a bit, makes you feel just like part of the island’s very own family. Like it’s this shared secret that everyone gets to enjoy.
One thing, yet, a bit unique? You’re just close to the sea; very, very close to the sea. 2. Oh Hamos!: Farm-to-Table Goodness
Oh Hamos!, basically close to Adamas, is rather this celebration of Cretan cuisine and a love letter to locally sourced ingredients. You’re looking at a family-run farm, which, by the way, means pretty much everything on that menu is almost fresh from the garden. You definitely get this super rustic vibe that just screams “authentic Greece”. As a matter of fact, you have farm animals wandering around and plenty of greenery, and Oh Hamos! truly gives you that real farm-to-table experience.
You have to order their handmade pasta, which tends to be topped with various local cheeses or even a slow-cooked lamb, is probably heavenly. That is often what guests love when they dine here, too because you will have this rich flavor, too! The service is friendly and passionate. Staff wants to pretty much share their food heritage with you. Arrive hungry, because, honestly, portions tend to be more than generous and so tempting. It’s quite difficult not to just order one more thing to try. If you happen to love getting away from those tourist traps and even digging into very local flavor, this is surely that must-visit place. Nestled in that picturesque fishing village of Klima, Astakas really offers more or less a dining experience you surely will be talking about for years. You probably think to yourself that you’re dining right by those colorful “Syrmata” (fishermen’s houses), which is just an iconic Milos backdrop. Seriously, this sets it apart and usually makes it a place you would not want to miss while visiting the area.
