Next is the Clock Tower. The buildings show architecture dating back to the Ottoman era. Still, the story there is really something that brings the stones to life. Oh, so just a little outside of Permet is Kelcyre, usually. That’s somewhere rather special for history buffs. Is that an ancient site actually with Illyrian and Roman roots. By the way, you know, a local guide often can show the remains, that still stand, seemingly telling some stories, actually. As a matter of fact, it’s always about ancient civilizations that used to live in the area, yet very few go.
Anyway, what’s fascinating there, like at Kelcyre? This is that feeling when you realize you are literally standing on stones. The stones have stood there from many, many centuries ago, so too it’s a pretty unique moment of reflection, isn’t it? 3. Frashër, Home of the Frashëri Brothers
So, in the history of Albania, the Frashëri brothers often get lots of respect, typically. But, they were very important figures who contributed to literature, and in the independence movements of the country, which makes it important. Now, a day trip to Frashër from Permet can turn into some kind of pilgrimage for the intellectuals or something.
You might visit the museum and the family home. They seemingly get you very up close with their life’s work, still. And even if you’re like someone not super deep into Albanian history, it is possible that you get some idea of national identity that is just a bit contagious, by the way. 4. The Bektashi Shrine of Melcan
Seemingly unique spiritually, right? Well the Bektashi, you know, stand for, that is, tolerance, almost always. A shrine in Melcan, usually, makes the location incredibly spiritual, almost.

5. Gjirokastër Day Trip
So, now this makes this an actual journey, like one that is about one hour away. Gjirokastër is literally a UNESCO site, okay? The day trip should actually show the town which can also be, typically, known as the “Stone City.”
So, it’s famous, it seems, as something containing architecture from the Ottoman times that are so preserved it will catch you by surprise, honestly. Oh, the castle almost always is a pretty dramatic destination! There is, in fact, historical significance across everything. Very important people have actually called this region their homes, well. Any local guide you could hire may give life and insight in something that really goes back hundreds of years. Usually, I might mention if one did the southern circuit of the nation one must think of a short drive over this site.
