1. South Stack Lighthouse: A Coastal Gem

South Stack Lighthouse, well it’s just a stone’s throw away, right? More or less a short hop from Holyhead. And, actually, this spot is way more than just, you know, a pretty building; it is literally kind of a big statement. It stands kinda proud against the rough Irish Sea, right? When you head there, be sure, maybe, to take your time along the cliff-top paths because they give you some truly amazing views! I mean you might even catch a look at puffins nesting. If you are there, say, between April and July, you see them a bit easier. The lighthouse? You get tours. That, actually, let you step inside; you go up, see the light mechanics. It really gives you a great idea about just how much of a challenge it can be for sailors!

The journey, though. So, it’s a bit challenging. I mean you go down 400 steps! You go across a suspension bridge! And after that you go back up, that you should think about that. That said? It calls it one of the finest examples in military tech of those times, right, the 13th/14th centuries?

What really stands out? I mean you got concentric defenses, so really it is castle inside castle. That gave the bad guys many different points to defend if any got breached! When you stroll round it, it kind of becomes simple why everyone talks about this one! What is super is you can kinda roam freely round most parts, I mean inside and around. Makes you sorta think about what things were actually like then. Don’t miss kinda walking along the outer walls for amazing views out the Menai Strait!
