You could say it’s pretty famous for the Palomar Observatory, home to a giant telescope that has that vintage, classic science vibe, which you can usually explore. Even if stars aren’t your thing, the drive there is really beautiful, going through forests so, you know, pretty. If you’re up for it, there are some awesome trails with outstanding views. Wine lover? Temecula is just around the corner from Dagua, it’s almost perfect. Imagine sipping local wines with views for days; this place is pretty much designed for that. There’s a very big range of vineyards here, from little places that give that comfy, family feel to really fancy estates where everything looks so elegant. Plenty offer tours and tasting sessions; really easy to make a day of it, in my view. And it’s, like your thing. Also, don’t overlook the restaurants. Plenty have menus crafted to pair perfectly with wines from the region. Food with wine, so that is really tasty! Plan to spend your time going winery to winery; this is actually a fun way to experience Temecula’s vibe and flavors.

3. Julian: Apples, History, and Small-Town Charm
Feel like something sweet? Pack your bags, and go visit Julian, it’s, like, one of the cutest old mining towns and just the perfect place for a change of scenery near Dagua. It’s quite famed for its apple pies. Pretty sure everyone has to try one. However, there is tons more too. Have a walk down Main Street, so that will probably make you feel as though you’ve been brought back to the past, with the many old buildings and little shops. Maybe get an tour to learn all about Julian’s history in gold mining. When you’re done, you should go pick some apples right from the orchards; that seems to be just awesome. This place just screams small-town beauty and is basically amazing if you want a relaxed day seeing a different kind of Southern California.

4. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: Desert Beauty
Fancy exploring the desert? Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, not far from Dagua, is totally unique; that’s an otherworldly landscape just ideal for those wanting a super cool escape from city life. Even during spring, all these wildflower blooms create scenes that almost don’t seem real. There are, too, hundreds of metal sculptures that unexpectedly pop up around the desert. You could hike the trails and view hidden slot canyons. Bring your camera to catch a super clear night sky—because of that there’s rarely any city lights to spoil things. This place can be intense due to the heat, for sure—but with planning, it can turn a standard day into a really superb experience. Be prepared and drink plenty of water! Remember.

5. Idyllwild: Mountain Town Arts and Nature
Fancy mountain scenery with artistic vibes? The small town of Idyllwild, really rather easily accessible from Dagua, gives off an amazing change of pace. So there are those giant pine trees all around you! Walk down the super charming streets dotted with little art galleries and local shops. Get some art pieces from creatives. As you may find something great. Plenty of walking trails are near Idyllwild, it tends to be very easy to quickly hike. Stop at a cafe to eat while looking at the scenery— it’s definitely just picture perfect! Idyllwild is so cool to see mountain life combined with an artistic, free spirit. It offers some fresh air, in a way.
