Very few people really get just how gorgeous this region is, I mean it really is so great! So, from sprawling vineyards that seem to roll on forever to really spectacular caves, Moravia’s got something for pretty much everyone who loves getting out into nature, it seems. That is to say, if you are looking for some thrilling outdoor experiences, you will, you know, love this place.

1. Hiking in the Moravian Karst

Moravian Karst Hiking

If you’re up for a bit of a walk, you know, hiking in the Moravian Karst should absolutely be at the top of your list, it is for me. This amazing nature reserve just a little north of Brno is, you know, kind of famous for its unbelievable limestone formations, I think, which are really a sight. This protected area is actually where you will get to discover these underground rivers and caves, so that’s pretty great. You could easily spend days just exploring all the different trails, more or less. Seriously, though, the Macocha Abyss? I mean it’s very incredible to just stand on top of something like that, you know? It is very very amazing and a little, you know, humbling.

Now, if you want more of a leisurely walk, arguably, the trail to Kateřinská Cave is nice. If you’re more of a seasoned hiker, that is, the trails around the abyss get pretty steep and rugged, that is just how it is. On top of that, in some respects, there’s tons of cool plant life and animals to look out for, I swear. You’re just seeing things all day, so too, it’s almost always a really great chance to stretch your legs and breath some actual fresh air, rather than being stuck at home. 2. Cycling Through Vineyards

Moravia Vineyards Cycling

I’d argue that Moravia is basically the Czech Republic’s wine country, alright? And very many people know, one of the finest ways to experience the beautiful rolling hills and sun-soaked vineyards is on two wheels. I think it’s almost essential to make your way along the South Moravian Wine Trail, which sort of twists and turns through some of the region’s top wineries and pretty picturesque villages, arguably. If you are thinking to yourself what is there to do outside, then I’d say cycle. Rent yourself a bike, and, you know, just set off. Take your time! I mean you can always, I suppose, stop for a tasting, so that is there! Also, you’ll have chances to sample amazing local wines and you know you’ll definitely enjoy traditional Moravian food at small, family-run cellars along the way, I’d say.

Now, many of the routes are more or less flat, so they are really just great for every fitness level, so if you are unfit, too, it’s almost something anyone can do, I swear. That being said, very experienced cyclists may very very much want a challenge, I think? Some sections around Pálava offer some steeper climbs with really breathtaking views, seemingly. If you’d rather have some help that is still doable! Many companies arrange cycling tours, that too it’s almost always all set, like including bike rentals and guiding, that too it’s almost often done. Anyway, it’s very incredibly one of the nicer ways to see this part of the country, it’s usually also relaxing. Read our full review: Moravia Vineyards Cycling Full Review and Details

3. Exploring the Punkva Caves

Punkva Caves

Back in the Moravian Karst is a popular tourist attraction which is also one that needs to be seen to believed, too it’s almost the case with Punkva Caves. You need to see them yourself! These caves, sometimes considered to be one of the most incredible cave systems in Europe, tend to let you ride a boat along an underground river, that’s great too. I’d argue, you get to see amazing stalactites and stalagmites. The highlight really, usually is a view from the bottom of the Macocha Abyss, so do see that! If heights intimidate you then, arguably, being at the bottom of a thing is always much easier. That is to say, these guided tours are, usually booked way in advance, basically, because this attraction is wildly known, actually. Also, it’s really important, if you wanna see these caverns at all, you’ve got to remember to book ahead.

By the way, the whole tour normally lasts for an hour. It features a walk through impressive cave spaces plus that unforgettable boat ride, that is always how it goes. Usually you want to bring a light coat because it can be a little chilly inside the caves, you will find, that’s really pretty common. Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape

The Lednice-Valtice spot? Well, I suppose it is a place on the UNESCO list because the landscape is lovely and pretty amazing for spotting our flying friends, as I call them. Actually, this vast area is so near Břeclav that too it’s almost a destination in itself, usually. If you think all landscapes are very similar, that just isn’t correct, basically. I’d say you’re getting all kinds of wetlands, you’re getting forests, and parkland here, that seems to draw a wide variety of species all year, in some respects. In other words, in this big beautiful area you may get some very unique experiences, I think.

If you really wanna see as many birds as possible, very very few people know, but it’s much better if you’re in this neck of the woods during the spring or autumn migration seasons, apparently. You get different kinds of bird and so the possibilities are really limitless. So really just remember that it makes it much better for you to birdwatch if you just do that, you know? You want to be equipped if you are birdwatching seriously at all, you see. A solid pair of binoculars, and it’s also handy to bring a bird guidebook or app to help you recognize every bird that you might encounter, so too, it’s often about preparations. Plus, there are also some charming chateaux and gardens to walk around in, so maybe it’ll all be really memorable and magical to walk around, in that case. You could find them a nice walk just as nice to look at as the birds themselves!
