Top 5 Poznan Food & Drink: A Tasty Tour

Poznan, you know, it’s that Polish city which has got a super cool vibe and an even better food scene, or at least it appears to have one. I mean, who visits Poland and doesn’t dream of trying some legit Polish eats? It’s almost like a given. Very, very important, though, is knowing where to go so you don’t, you know, end up with tourist-trap grub. Basically, that is why I decided to put together a list of the top spots that will give you that authentic Poznan flavor.

Poznan Old Town Square

Pyra Bar: Potato Paradise

If there’s one thing Poland does right, or appears to anyway, it’s potatoes, and Pyra Bar takes them seriously, as it ought to. It’s just a humble little joint that basically shouts out potato love in all its forms. So, the menu here, you see, it reads like a potato manifesto. I mean, from classic baked potatoes with every topping under the sun to crazy potato casseroles, everything, or almost everything anyway, features the mighty spud. Very likely this is the ultimate comfort food stop. Basically, if you leave here hungry, well, you have got some serious eating to do. What to try: I would highly recommend the “Pyra z Gzikiem.” It is that baked potato that you see with a generous dollop of “gzik,” it’s a local cheese mixed with cream and chives. Simple? Perhaps. Delightful? Extremely! So, just trust me. That will be worth it.

Whiskey in the Jar: Grill & Rock ‘n’ Roll

Okay, maybe you did not expect to see an American-style grill joint on this list. Yet, Whiskey in the Jar, you know, it does that one thing pretty well. What thing you ask? Well, combining some juicy steaks with rock ‘n’ roll vibes. In a way, it is quite unusual for Poznan, still, if you feel that urge for a perfectly cooked burger, some ribs, or just a really good piece of meat, this, I would say, might be your spot. So the ambiance, it is cool with music that you know and a décor that really gives some western feels. We might almost be on Route 66! It is located in the center of Old Town square so it will be easy to access. We know you want to read our full review: whiskey in the jar poznan Full Review and Details.

What to try: It may not be polish, and it sounds boring but it could be good to just have the Ribeye steak, or almost any burger they have. In any case, whatever meat they serve there, very often the quality will not let you down. Add on a local craft beer from their extensive list and you are all set.

Brovaria: Beer, Food, and History

Brovaria is actually pretty cool! It’s not only a brewery but too it’s almost a hotel and a restaurant located in the Old Town. So, for anyone who appreciates a bit of beer history mixed with modern tastes, this is just the place, or so it appears anyway. It serves up its very own handcrafted beers which all seem to be brewed on site which means you are getting it ultra-fresh, as you would like. We just hope it goes easy, you know, getting to try their unique concoctions alongside classic Polish food! Let’s read our full review: brovaria poznan Full Review and Details.

What to try: Give their wheat beer a try, maybe, as well as any of their seasonal brews which seem to be doing well. A bit, or maybe more, hungry? It is worth checking out their “żurek” or sour rye soup served in a bread bowl. Just polish food right? It will feel warm.

Figa z Makiem: Sweet Escape

Okay, so, Figa z Makiem, that’s a cute little pastry shop that feels like it jumped straight out of a story book, or maybe even your dreams. Very, very much like your, this sweet heaven it serves up everything from crazy cakes to pretty much hand-crafted chocolates, too almost, macarons which could change your life for good and so much more that they don’t even know. It’s just the sort of spot you need to try whenever you’re walking around Poznan and you just want something, so you can keep on going, and really lovely and just incredibly yummy. What to try: Honestly? Well, you just go wild. So, I might suggest their macarons. They might change the way you see macarons, in some respects at least.

KontenerART: Food Trucks and Funky Vibes

So, KontenerART, it’s kind of an unexpected spot that mixes art, culture, and seriously good street food, in my experience. So, picture that a bunch of shipping containers is changed, or maybe turned to cool spaces which host art workshops and concerts and food vendors all gather there. And then, for anyone looking for a relaxed, little chill place to grab some grub and experience a quirky atmosphere, this might be that stop! So, each vendor you see serves up anything that ranges between juicy burgers and some unique takes, but you know Polish cuisine, and everything is pretty worth it.
