So, if you’re thinking about a change from the usual vineyard spots and fancy a sampling of some South American vino, then central Brazil might just grab your attention with what’s on offer when it comes to wine experiences. We, like your average wine fan, too, are often keen to scope out something a bit fresh. Is that you, too? Right then! This is a look at some highly-rated wine tours and tastings that, in a way, give you a good taste of what this interesting area has up its sleeve. They, it’s almost true, are sure to be pretty unforgettable.

1. Casa Valduga Brazil: Sparkling Sensation

Casa Valduga is that name that’s probably quite a familiar one to folks who are pretty clued up on Brazilian wines, yet it’s not just about mass-produced stuff. Instead, we find some absolutely lovely sparkling wines. Basically, the winery itself lies nestled in the Vale dos Vinhedos (Valley of the Vineyards), yet even though that area’s not actually slap-bang in central Brazil, loads of tours do get organized from cities in the area, for instance, from Brasília, as I was saying. First, the big sell? Bubbles! Arguably, they really shine here with their sparkling wines which, seemingly, go through the traditional method, too, that gets those amazing tiny bubbles happening. Plus, a good tour isn’t just necking glasses of wine (although that, arguably, does help), yet there are opportunities, in some respects, to poke around the cellars and understand the winemaking steps.

Then there are the tastings. I mean, it’s highly likely that the tastings can range a bit, sometimes from the straightforward ‘here’s what we make’ type deal to some a bit more specialized. Sometimes they pair with regional delicacies. Okay, that sort of experience means it’s not only a good chance to get to know Brazilian bubbly, though really it is also getting involved with some Brazilian tastes, right?

2. Rio Sol Winery: Desert Wines Surprise

Now, get this, Rio Sol is one of those wineries located way out in the São Francisco Valley – we, seemingly, think of deserts, not vineyards, eh? Anyway, they did! As a matter of fact, the region uses sophisticated irrigation (very needed!), plus, actually, enjoys constant sunshine that can produce, like, a couple of harvests in one calendar year! That might grab your attention, right?

Anyway, Rio Sol tours will normally talk a bit about these, by the way. Things like what sort of wizardry allows the grape to flourish, right? Then comes the fun stuff (a bit more fun anyway). Often they have tastings for a bunch of their wines, in fact, they make whites, reds, rosés, and, as a matter of fact, sparkling wines too! Basically, keep an eye out, specifically, for their interpretations of Syrah and Viognier, or wines created with those grapes, because I would suggest they’re a fair match to this region. Anyway, Rio Sol proves Brazil’s wine world is really diverse; that, clearly, you have these coastal gems down to unexpected desert heroes.

3. Vinícola Família Salton: History in a Bottle

Vinícola Família Salton is, seemingly, just steeped in tradition, plus has its backstory deeply dug into Brazilian wine’s history; seemingly it started back in 1910! Anyway, they are, too, still family-owned plus, that, in a way, gives that personal flavor, or feeling when there are tours plus tastings, I mean, basically.

Now, visitors often tend to talk a bit about the family’s impact. Anyway, something I’m told crops up during tours, so, in some respects, the processes become that bit clearer and, actually, the Salton “feeling” just shines on through, right?

Okay, Salton rocks those familiar types like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, plus Chardonnay. That said, I did find some of their blends plus sparkling wines something to write home about. Oh, yeah! Then again, what I tend to find more often, that’s that the Salton tour does seem well sorted at introducing anyone to wine; in a way it is sort of teaching them about wine, for example, when those beginners appear on tour. Arguably, it looks an absolutely lush visit plus the whole experience? Totally? Even? We might, just a little, like this one! By the way, I suggest trying that!

4. Lidio Carraro Boutique Winery: Purist Approach

Lidio Carraro is, it seems to me, an option for any real purists; maybe those who shun additives to what could be that wine’s downfall! Basically, its ethos seems to come from respecting grapes, very much. As a matter of fact, there isn’t much (seemingly anything), chucked into that mix; they feel their work ought to let the fruit just speak on its own.

Now, you may well get people being amazed or totally perplexed about this particular winemaking. Though Carraro, very much, want any visitor to see what difference can happen by going very bare-bones, for example, cutting things out. By the way, these tastings do often go off-piste, as a matter of fact you find folks waxing lyrical on some seriously intriguing tastes in their blends. So?

I’m told it’s arguably a masterclass which might sway those clued up wine snobs along too! Now that I, myself, think of that visit, Lidio Carraro could potentially really spice up those more expected tours; those that might need a push!

5. Don Laurindo: A Rustic Charm

The family-owned Don Laurindo boutique winery has its location right in Vale dos Vinhedos, plus, very, it seems proud that what folks come and see is an image that, typically, nods back at those early Italian migrants who helped to make the local wine what it is, in some respects. Seemingly, everything, very, stays smaller, it’s almost true, rather with any sort of push for modern equipment – maybe. So, the wine does stay honest.

Yet I noticed visits don’t just sell the taste. I mean, arguably it’s those vistas that are also there too. In that case, Don Laurindo comes highly recommended if you fancy grabbing shots around the vineyards, plus seeing how wines get kept around those cellar spots – okay – they age that wine carefully.

Anyway, during your tasting session, don’t leave, clearly, before trying their Cabernet Franc which I, for instance, believe might impress – maybe they could give it, maybe, awards and stuff? Yet that, by the way, authentic-type edge which arguably shows us that Brazilian winemaking has depth could possibly tempt visitors away from some others there; basically it provides just that tiny bit difference plus feels warmer to me! Maybe to you, too!
