Mont-St-Michel, you know, it’s more than just a seriously stunning abbey perched on a rock. It’s also a place, arguably, where your taste buds are up for quite the treat. Now, getting good food right there on the Mont can be a bit of a task. You’ve got those touristy traps, so too it’s really important to know where to look. And that’s exactly what I’m gonna assist with! I have picked some really amazing places which I want to share with you in the world of food and drink with spots, each providing their own culinary offering for an outstanding experience. From traditional French cuisine which you will expect, to places where you can get food on the go to save some money for souvenirs.
1. La Mère Poulard: An Iconic Start
If there’s one name you will find when reading up about dining at Mont-St-Michel, it will certainly be La Mère Poulard, but is it all just really a load of fluff and marketing?. I mean, that’s really what I thought. Established way back in 1879, this pretty famous restaurant is known, and maybe very famously, for its omelets, but that’s usually a fancy dish isn’t it. So, is that, it’s light, super airy texture makes it worth the premium. It, kind of, started with Annette Poulard, and she would cook up these wonderful omelets for pilgrims and visitors. Nowadays, the tradition actually goes on. The experience starts even just watching the chefs prepare it using traditional methods. Yes, even more people will probably tell you, the prices are very, very high here, yet for many the historical context, the ambience, and the singular dish, makes this a treat you must not miss. The menu here, so too, also offers different, classic French dishes, like your seafood and meats, making sure that there’s something for the rest of your group. The restaurant alone gives like this peek back into the past, using rustic decor that almost reminds us that a culinary start happened at that very place!

2. Crêperie du Mont-Saint-Michel: Galettes and Crepes Delight
For something, too, a bit casual but, actually, tastes good, you’ve really got to check out the Crêperie du Mont-Saint-Michel. It’s almost your perfect spot for when you’re looking to try some, just, seriously authentic galettes and crepes. The crepes are like the normal style, however, they use savory buckwheat flour. So, too it really hits different. So that’s the thing, it makes this a super classic, super regional specialty. I can confirm, I really love it. A variety of options here are like available, coming at great prices, offering great savory and very sweet fillings, from your usual cheese, ham, and egg fillings, to different stuff such as caramel, or your chocolate. I was so shocked how cheap the ingredients are, without them actually affecting the taste, yet, as always, the Mont is just known for its prices for tourists being super high! The creperie is known for its location that looks right out onto the bay, so that makes lunch here scenic, or even grabbing a quick dessert just that little bit nicer! Arguably, its relaxed, informal setting allows you to soak within the island vibes, without any excessive costs.
