Hike Up Mount Aksla for Amazing Views
If you want to get those postcard views of Alesund, you pretty much need to conquer Mount Aksla. It’s possibly the spot most known there. I mean, think of it, that spot provides nearly a full look over the whole town, the surrounding islands, and of course those gorgeous fjords. You get to it one of two ways. You see, you can tackle the 418 steps up the stairway – a pretty popular activity, by the way, really giving your legs a workout. Or, perhaps, if you would prefer to save your energy, there’s the road that meanders up there too.
Up top, so there’s Fjellstua, a viewpoint and restaurant. And frankly, you’re going to be happy that is there to refuel with snacks or maybe, that is if you are anything like me, grab a well-deserved coffee while you take it all in. Going up Mount Aksla, in a way, it gives you this immediate sense of where you are in the world; It is this spectacular introduction to Alesund. Kayak Through the Fjords
Being in Alesund and passing up the chance to get out on the water, I think that would just be wrong. That’s why a kayak is an excellent option for exploration. Fjords near Alesund that are quite pretty offer still waters ideal, truly perfect, for kayaking. And in some respects, getting super close like this gives you a quite different point of view, when the steep mountain sides shoot straight out of the water. Imagine this very vividly, in the quietness you notice the wildlife so closely and so differently; It truly delivers a much more intimate and thrilling fjord experience.
I’ve heard there are many tour operators around that, they typically guide trips for different skill levels. Basically, don’t stress if you have almost no kayaking experience! With the right guidance you could find hidden gems, see small inlets that you can basically access from the kayak only. So, maybe you will experience the magical nature, basically unspoiled beauty from a vantage point. Explore the Art Nouveau Architecture
Alright, I’ll confess. I hear that the “outdoor activities,” idea probably brings hikes, kayak trips to your mind, but walking about to appreciate architecture can be fun and different, I mean a really unique experience. Alesund had a very tragic fire in 1904. Yet, the way the town got rebuilt after is what really makes it unique, something special, and I am thinking about that for all the visitors! Reconstructed using the Art Nouveau style makes it very visually unique and makes a rather charming experience.
Now think about that, the buildings. In the buildings you will see there’s all this detail, flowing lines, decorative touches inspired through nature; You get architectural treasures anywhere and almost all the buildings here show architectural beauty. This makes for a pretty fantastic walking tour where you find something fresh and exciting behind almost any corner you go. In addition, almost, it allows for you getting outdoors, in the sunshine. I should probably make this point by saying I’ve discovered the ideal part about this is being able to visit various cafes. While out in Alesund why not grab coffee breaks in locations. You will basically soak this atmosphere as much as you desire? Very tempting!

Visit the Alnes Lighthouse
Want somewhere outside Alesund proper? That one needs to be added in there for a day out. Think about taking this very short journey out toward Alnes Lighthouse and basically experiencing everything. What awaits that there might be will blow over this coastline, like something amazing coming up whenever taking pictures, or having any type whatsoever – that could also give an added flavour! It is something spectacular!
Once on reaching you’ll surely see your surrounding panoramic ocean vista! I suggest visiting up through that old-looking lighthouse: after going upstairs the spectacular beauty that’s awaiting everyone over the edge should turn everybody into stunned! As a bonus whenever possible check Alnes out at a neighboring town with the Alnes village featuring those cute small houses plus coffee/craft place locations: Perfect relaxing afternoon!

Go Island Hopping
So there are more reasons outside city experiences than those inside itself which island jumping could make happen so perfectly, in some respects! Nearby Alesund has so various amazing surrounding destinations so easily gotten using regular boats trips travelling daily, offering such perfect days on land/sea experiences all intermixing so properly. A boat takes all people either via gorgeous rural community visits where historical architecture may interest even modern buildings all put at unique geographic formations offering much exploration adventures!
Think viewing community called Hamsund that sits perfectly over a coastline whilst taking out this tour-that allows finding the cultural insight amongst stunning surroundings all being memorable things by all doing while in such islands by being explored!
