Top 5 Old Montreal Food & Drink: A Local’s Guide

Old Montreal Restaurants

Alright, you, let’s take a leisurely amble around Old Montreal. Is that okay? Very likely, when people come here, they’re looking to soak it all in – the history, the charm, and, obviously, the awesome food and drink that this part of Montreal dishes out. And, honestly, with all the cobblestone streets and buildings with, like, hundreds of years of stories baked right in, picking where to chow down or grab a drink can be a bit much, kind of, really. So, I figured I could lend a hand. Here’s a rundown, it is, of some seriously great places that, apparently, pretty much guarantee a fantastic time, especially food-wise. These spots are, you know, where the locals actually go, so they aren’t just for tourists. Here is where people in Montreal are eating, you know?

1. Olive et Gourmando: Sandwich Perfection & More

Olive et Gourmando Sandwiches

Right, if you’re poking around Old Montreal and feeling a little, that is, peckish, you almost need to visit Olive et Gourmando. Seriously, I mean, if you’re just a bit hungry. It tends to be the kind of spot that locals just really dig, seemingly. It, is almost, less of a plain restaurant and more, possibly, a culinary experience kind of wrapped up in a café. Oh, and I haven’t even talked about the star of the place, it almost goes without saying – the sandwiches! These aren’t just basic lunch bites. Seriously, not even just normal sandwiches! It seems that each one feels a bit like the chefs have put quite a bit of time and consideration into things, as a matter of fact. The Cubain, I am sure you heard of it, it’s sort of famous, with its, that is, layers of flavor and perfectly grilled bread, or maybe the Poached Pear sandwich, which seemingly mixes sweetness and savory stuff that I didn’t realize worked well together, like your typical cheese with fruit combo. Basically, you cannot go wrong, truthfully. Don’t sleep on the pastries, too, actually. They are sort of the reason I’ll actually go, like your normal eclair or pain au chocolat. Just yummy, really. Oh! And I forget to tell you there might be, might be, like your basic line of people to order from. Just wait, right, as a matter of fact, or get there, right, a bit early!

2. Le Club Chasse et Pêche: A Taste of Refined Dining

Le Club Chasse et Peche

Okay, let’s up the fancy a little, alright? Le Club Chasse et Pêche is a place you might just be, in a way, remembering for a while. When I describe this, like your normal fine-dining experience with some fancy frills. Basically, think white table cloths but not suffocating or intimidating at all, as a matter of fact! This place almost gives, actually, some welcoming sort of vibe in terms of mood. Very comfortable, I will add. You might expect really expensive food with snooty waiters, or at least I sometimes do, I forget those two do not often correlate. Clearly, you come for its dishes, mostly. Seemingly, it is French inspired with many contemporary takes, right, basically, including, seemingly, super fresh seafood and meat from Quebec. To be fair, though, you need to try some of them. I forget some of the food on the menu every time I go there! The menu seemingly rotates often. Apparently, if you’re quite brave, the bone marrow is usually worth ordering! Not everyone’s taste, though, right. I forgot to mention they tend to specialize a lot in some wine, to be fair. Basically, pairing those options is also a, it could be, really awesome idea if you are a wine connoisseur like me, just a little!

3. Tommy Café + Apéro: A Blend of Coffee & Cocktails

Tommy Cafe Apero

Very, here is something for the coffee nerds, apparently. Very, it’s, so, called Tommy Café + Apéro, is almost the ideal pick, supposedly. As I am sure it tells, kind of, Tommy Café has your regular cups and beans along with aperos. I am certain, for you readers, an apero, like your regular afternoon delight, can be basically be thought of as sort of a ‘pre-dinner drinks and snacks’ type thing. Oh! They got tasty drinks for those needs. Just an absolutely amazing thing! The original blends will please you, is that true, so maybe it is perfect. The baristas there actually pay, or seemingly pay, so, very extra attention to brewing coffee. Actually awesome and enjoyable to think of, in my opinion. Now, as for the “Apero” aspect, clearly you could expect your gin and tonics there along with some finger foods to be going with the vibes and your tummy’s requirements, clearly. Just some tapas or charcuterie, alright? Anyway, I find this is kind of a relaxing location for people meeting up or simply somewhere for tourists to recharge to start, arguably, walking more, actually.

Modavie Restaurant Montreal

Seemingly, if it may happen that you might like French food mixed with some nice melodies and some lively atmosphere too, it’s almost time you may like to hear about Modavie, basically. Clearly, this establishment actually brings in a ton of crowds for what it seemingly has to offer, actually. Apparently, their French Mediterranean food selection might surprise some first timers too. Now, very often in France, like your basic people there and others might love it here, you may love lamb, potentially Modavie might want to serve you this here! Otherwise there are many pastas and different plates to chow down on too, really. As I was saying, they frequently offer gigs for many artists to share a variety of pieces. By the way, I find there will almost definitely be something fun awaiting at this destination! And you probably could easily socialize when grooving over or eating these nice options, by the way.

5. Pub St-Pierre: Your Neighborhood Bar Experience

Pub St-Pierre Montreal

Anyway, maybe there just might be some days, truthfully, you simply prefer something more simple, or maybe some people even might even like bars a whole heap, just a little. Oh, yes there just might happen a place to look at actually called Pub St-Pierre too. We can all be friends! Apparently, its mood may bring back fond nostalgia, yet still could definitely stand as a current bar right now! Oh, this oldie could definitely remain a goodie! Seemingly, a fantastic neighborhood area too for many residents in the Montreal area. Also, that, might be the spot, in fact, you and your group could simply, seemingly, want after seeing other destinations for just a bit! I mean this will give other people more chill pills. Anyway I should just explain things in some easier terms I reckon. Almost every local usually has their own neighborhood, which you, also, have something in your very spot too. Clearly they seemingly would also have one too to hang at, basically, or make some great memories, potentially right? It would potentially stand it could do this actually.
