Peterborough, it has, arguably, more charm than you might think, sits pretty on the Otonabee River. This neat little city, typically overlooked sometimes, really has this collection of art and culture just waiting for people to discover. It’s more than meets the eye, that’s what I’m saying! Let’s talk a bit about what you will find here!
1. Art Gallery of Peterborough
If you are interested in exploring Peterborough’s culture, you absolutely have to make sure the Art Gallery of Peterborough makes your to-do list. The Gallery tends to have a wide range of art exhibits. Really, it is an offering for practically anyone interested in different art media! Basically, they show paintings plus sculptures as well, too its almost anything. Not to mention, their exhibits seem to be rotating on some type of frequency. Therefore, you have to expect to see something fresh. So you can plan recurring visits to really get that exposure to as much different creative material as possible, that’s right. The gallery seeks to support the regional artists, showcasing a collection of regional art next to works created by some other really influential Canadians.

2. Showplace Performance Centre
Are you very ready to see some live theatre? Then you should visit Showplace Performance Centre. They put on plays, live musical performances, and it’s a venue for local performing arts people to shine. This location, it has 647 seats and the theatre’s actually pretty well designed too, apparently, for viewing events, because, honestly, there is not a bad seat in the house. Check the calendar there if you visit Peterborough, so, too it’s almost certain there is going to be something there worth the visit, like your favourite musical artist or a community event happening. Really it serves many local art purposes, in some respects, so you can just look through it!

3. Peterborough Museum & Archives
Are you seeking a spot where a love for art blends smoothly, pretty much, with appreciation for history? Well then! Visit Peterborough Museum & Archives and be wowed at this neat attraction in Peterborough. It displays artifacts detailing Peterborough’s history; yet, very unexpectedly they seem to also have artwork crafted by some of the regional artists, very different, I know. As I was saying, this location, that one offers rotating exhibitions throughout the year, and with those, they often bring artwork on loan originating from various other spots, basically enriching the diversity that that collection can offer and therefore providing different art and historical perspectives, apparently. It’s typically more than the historical element, in my opinion!

4. Catharine Parr Traill College
Located on scenic Symons Campus, the College is, still, home to an active cultural presence as well as really attractive architecture, by the way. This Trent University campus shows a wide variety of activities that people may find appealing. In a way, there is this schedule there of workshops, speaking engagements, or other special events; you might just get to attend or maybe view any number of special art displays, often there within the campus grounds. As a matter of fact, these locations and things will really enhance cultural charm throughout the city by creating space for creativity, which is why you should go check out the architecture plus landscape offered by this institution!

5. Market Hall Performing Arts Centre
Market Hall Performing Arts Centre is really where cultural passion blends smoothly, that is saying something, with community heart, wouldn’t you agree? This performance facility shows quite a large mix of acts from all performing disciplines. Frankly, the Hall plays a vital role too in boosting up regional creativity by putting on performances from various cultures in its programming of community and performing arts related shows, as I was saying.
