Belém Day Trips: Top 5 Unmissable Adventures

Belém Portugal

Belém, so this place near Lisbon, right?, is almost bursting with historical appeal and awesome sights. But, very, very, sometimes you’ve just gotta spread your wings and check out what’s a little further afield. Now, are you trying to make the most of your trip? If the answer is “yes”, then, well, taking a day trip from Belém is certainly something worth thinking over. You get to uncover even more of what Portugal has to show you, very, very.

1. Sintra: A Fairytale Escape

Sintra Portugal

Okay, so, when you mention day trips from Belém, Sintra’s always gonna spring to mind first. A UNESCO World Heritage site? That’s pretty much how it goes. Just a short train ride away, this is. In a way, you get to experience a fairytale setting, almost, and that, well that alone is an enough of an attraction. Now, you have colourful palaces sitting high up in the hills. Pretty cool, I’d say. In that case, you have gardens kinda overflowing with exotic plants. Like your own personal enchanted kingdom or something, seemingly, but that’s what people love it. People go completely mad for it.

First stop has to be Pena Palace. You see, it’s a sight to see with its mix of architectural styles. Very, very cool styles I’d say. This whole Romanticist vibe going on there, it’s pretty striking, so you won’t forget this for a long time. Make sure, for instance, you leave enough time to stroll round Pena Park. It’s a bit different, yet really beautiful with a variety of plant life, and stuff. Almost like something from a movie. I mean there’s tunnels and statues, so you are going to have to give yourself enough time to make the most of it, but if you plan right, you’ll do alright. Next, very, very, get to Quinta da Regaleira. It has these fascinating initiation wells, right?, and it’s all linked to different kinds of mystery and stuff. Seriously, this is a must-see if you like this sort of stuff. Make sure to go, basically.

Then, that’s a thing with Sintra. People seem to love it so much that sometimes it feels kinda crowded, so, very, very, the best time to go would often be during the shoulder season. Early spring. Late autumn. You know the kind of thing. When things are a bit quieter, yet you’ll still have alright weather to get around and do what you want to do. If, for example, you can, buy your train tickets to Sintra ahead. Like, that can seriously save you loads of time, almost, almost. Trust me, that train queues in Lisbon can be pretty crazy during peak times, almost.

2. Cascais: Coastal Charm and Sandy Beaches

Cascais Portugal

Fancy some sunshine, so maybe getting a load of that fresh sea breeze. What do you reckon? In this case, hop on a train from Belém to Cascais. This cute coastal town really used to be just a quiet fishing village, so I mean they tell me it became very much a popular resort with beautiful beaches. I think that was quite quick actually. If you need something where you can just chill or go round looking for some activities. I mean watersports and stuff? You will find it all there. If that doesn’t tickle your pickle, nothing will, okay?

When, for instance, you come to the main attractions. They’re almost, almost, all along the coast, basically. Boca do Inferno. It’s kinda this dramatic cliff formation where the waves are constantly crashing, clearly. So I’d tell you to grab that camera and maybe grab a coffee while you’re there, so you’re perked to go round the place looking for great pictures. Then, in short, stroll round the Cascais Marina. It has got some cool boats and loads of different kinds of restaurants and bars, very, very. Walk on for a while and eventually you get to the Citadel of Cascais, I guess. Which provides, basically, like awesome views, like, you know the type. I think you know.

For a bit of sunbathing? Pretty much all the beaches have nice gold sand and everything like that. For a swim? Well, that’s your decision to go swimming. Very, very. I really would advise you pack a swimsuit, just in case. Something for everyone here and you’ll feel like you’ve got you money’s worth from a day there. Obviously, get to Praia da Rainha, in that case. If you’re that kinda person.

3. Sesimbra: Beaches and History Combined

Sesimbra Portugal

If you go on a search, which could be just a bus ride, there is always Sesimbra, too. Very, very, this lovely coastal town gives you the awesome combo of a brilliant beach vibe with old historic attractions, pretty much. And stuff like that, so something else to give you a headache over. Pretty cool either way, don’t ya think? One of its major draws is, very, very, like its massive, great stretch of coastline. So, like I mentioned above with beaches. Grab ya swimsuit or whatever again. Anyway, whatever. The sand’s gold, and it is gonna be fun getting around there.

If, for instance, you’ve had it with getting sand between your toes, Sesimbra is full of old, history related stuff. Well the town is. Have a trip round the Castle of Sesimbra. Its located on top of this hill and it will show you a crazy outlook on Sesimbra, almost, very. Get the sun coming in and blinding you with light as you wander around. Then after the castle. Check out the maritime museum. I mean it really displays Sesimbra’s bond with the sea. If you are into that kinda thing.

Are you gonna be someone looking for a meal of some kind. Seafood. Very, very. All along the front, you are always gonna get those little cafe’s. They pretty much specialize in grub fished straight out of the sea. Have you eating and overlooking at a great big coastline that isn’t to shabby at all. Take your wife, take you boyfriend, treat your nan or something.

4. Arrábida Natural Park: Nature and Stunning Scenery

Arrábida Natural Park Portugal

Nature lovers! People keen on outdoor exploration. In the same way, this park might be for you, so. From Belém, a short drive can always put you inside this scenic landscape, alright. That, I feel offers stunning coasts and slopes. Then you have gorgeous views round every angle and nook. Anyway this really will grab all the outdoor junkies. Or those just wanting to enjoy this thing called the, out…doors, yeah.

Firstly, for instance, the highlight has always gotta be the Arrábida mountain range itself. Then those trips or walks. All depending if your knees are up for it. The peaks and the green is amazing. I recommend, that is what I would tell anyone that goes. Take yourself a walk, if you can anyway. With a trip, if that’s something that suits. Either way it works out. I would, I tell you what I would do, I would make time to see the Convento de Santa Maria da Arrábida. That is like the most awesome piece of historical, ancient monument around, that gives even more of a dimension in an olden day way.

Along this shore, this is very important. Check out beaches of all different kind. These all provide like small, calm settings where you can swim and just enjoy that day, like your own kind of getaway or something. A favourite. Playa do Creiro or something? Not heard of that, I haven’t really either. Look it up before going, maybe.

5. Óbidos: A Step Back in Time

Óbidos Portugal

Would you enjoy kinda travelling back in some sort of era in a time machine. If that kinda thrills your fancy, take a ride over to Óbidos. And hey, it might become a firm favourite thing to do. Encircled. Check that. Like big wall? Check again. All of them will see you. Its still has what makes it special still. It makes you experience ancient Portugal vibes, if you dig all that kinda weird but really great ancient stuff, so go there, check it out, then get outta there. Come on!

So you can take to wandering. Make sure those trainers fit snug. All on this. Yeah. Walk these cobblestone kinda pathways. Admiring. Take to checking out the boujee whitewashed villas, then eventually they may make it to Castelo de Óbidos, just so you know. It takes you to its own kind of place where its super charming to stroll round or walk. If you go round it right. Get pictures here, get it on film, and stuff. Do whatever people do these days, right. With their things that keep changing all the time.

There you can see. This one you need to taste really. Cherry liqueur? I might have misspelt that right now, I tell ya. Called Ginja. You have these offered inside a tiny little glass, but listen it needs to be chocolate to keep you going, so there you go, just like that, a taste explosion from the sweet flavour. When you take a swig of this you will be completely filled with glee.
