1. Busselton: Jetty Adventures and Underwater Wonders

Busselton, you know, it is super famous for having what’s thought to be one of the Southern Hemisphere’s seriously, seriously long timber-piled jetties. That is to say, only a 45-minute drive north from Bunbury, and it offers your pretty sweet mix of history, nature, that chilled-out coastal atmosphere too. I mean, seriously!

What to Do in Busselton

First off, you really must take a walk, like, just a little, along the Busselton Jetty. And really, if you are not really feeling up to the walk, there’s that cute little train that trundles right to the end. Yet, at the very end, there’s an Underwater Observatory. So, you can descend to see all sorts of crazy sea critters without, like, actually getting wet.

Basically, there are loads of places to grab some tasty food along the foreshore, that’s your fish and chips to cafes doing your slightly fancier stuff. I mean, whatever floats your boat, I suppose! Then, you could spend the afternoon swimming or just chilling on the beach, soaking up that sun. As a matter of fact, that beach is so beautiful.

There’s also that really cool Busselton Museum, should you want to soak in some local history. Very interesting if you’re into that sort of thing.

2. Margaret River: Wine, Waves, and Wilderness

About an hour and a half south of Bunbury, that Margaret River is calling! Yet it’s that hotspot where people come to get acquainted with amazing wines, epic surf, and gorgeous countryside. So, it is kind of your win-win destination, arguably!

Well, let’s be honest, you can’t really hit up Margaret River and not do at least a bit of winery hopping. Like, pop into a few cellar doors, test some seriously good wines, and soak up those beautiful vineyard views. Very, very idyllic. As a matter of fact, for those who appreciate wine, it is perfect.

If you like your surf, you may want to catch a glimpse of the action at Surfers Point, you know, and even get a surf lesson. Should you fancy it? Anyway, venture a bit inland, you will discover caves to explore, too it’s almost the towering karri forests for hiking, I would say. As a matter of fact, you won’t be bored in Margaret River.

3. Collie: Lakes, Forests, and Outdoor Adventures

About a 50-minute drive inland from Bunbury, Collie offers your complete contrast to the coast with stunning natural landscapes to uncover. Anyway, that is a really superb place should you prefer the whole outdoor experience.

Things to Do in Collie

I mean, seriously, the main attraction is probably the Black Diamond Lake. And it’s got that crazy vivid blue water because of the limestone. People rock up to swim, kayak, or even SUP. But bear in mind, it can get pretty busy.

For those into walking, you’ve got options. And what I mean is lots of it! Wellington National Park, which includes that picturesque Honeymoon Pool, with heaps of tracks going through those forests and that riverside stuff. Very pleasant stuff.

There’s also the Collie town itself to wander around and you can check out some local arts and crafts, too it’s almost.

4. Ferguson Valley: Gnomesville and Charming Scenery

Roughly 35 minutes out from Bunbury, Ferguson Valley’s got something that’s really quite quirky and pretty captivating. Gnomesville, I am referring to. So, it has a bunch of rolling hills and countryside landscapes which could very well be what you may call serene.

Okay, first up, you go check out Gnomesville. A bit of a crazy spot where people have left their garden gnomes, and I am referring to literally thousands of them. That are there!

Besides that, there’s loads of boutique wineries, microbreweries, and farm-gate stalls dotted around. Basically, pop in, grab a wine tasting, some local produce and sample craft beers. Is that alright? That is to say, enjoy the day.

You can grab your scrumptious lunch at a local café or even, more or less, a country pub. With really decent grub!

5. Donnybrook: Apples and Family Fun

About 40 minutes southeast of Bunbury, that Donnybrook is known as the apple capital. You can get loads of orchards, friendly vibes and one absolutely enormous playground. It’s pretty fun for families!

Really you cannot skip the Apple Fun Park, you know. And, it really is an absolutely ginormous playground that includes all the play equipment which keeps children entertained. Basically for ages!

As you may see, explore some orchards and depending on the time of the year, even pick your own apples. Also, Donnybrook has your friendly, small-town vibe and places to grab your cafe lunch, of course!

Wander through that town and suss out the local stores too it’s almost.
