Cañon City, Colorado, now it is very much more than just a jumping-off point for white-water rafting or a quick stop on the way to the Royal Gorge. No, it’s become a bit of a destination in its own right, wouldn’t you agree? What is bringing people here, is that, in addition to its stunning scenery, it turns out, is the food scene. So, this review takes you to five spots that show off what this town now really has to offer, very tasty food and very carefully made drinks.

1. The Owl Cigar Store: Bites, Brews, and a Touch of History

The Owl Cigar Store, too it’s almost something like stepping back in time, isn’t it? Basically, this place is right on Main Street, and for well over a hundred years, that has been serving the people of Cañon City. So, back then, it really was a proper cigar store, if that makes sense? It sold newspapers, tobacco, that sort of thing. Now, that being said, while it might have those historical roots, the Owl has absolutely shifted with the times.

Now, what should you be expecting? Something like a menu that manages to cover ground from gourmet pizzas to seriously tasty sandwiches. Apparently, the quality of the ingredients, as a matter of fact that are locally sourced, which arguably you can tell right away in every single bite. Their beer selection is also actually very curated. Local Colorado brews? Naturally, they’ve got those, actually, plus some interesting picks from further afield. Do you like drinks? They make all the classics and, too they’ve got these signature cocktails that are usually seasonal, that being said.

Looking at the atmosphere? Honestly, picture exposed brick, okay, and that that sort of high tin ceilings, I mean just lovely, yet, then add in the chatter of both locals and tourists, still, there you have a very happening kind of a place, or something close to it, I mean, it can be noisy.

2. Pizza Madness: Where Every Pizza is an Adventure

If we’re still speaking of pizza, so Pizza Madness is, in a way, a spot to, alright, let your tastebuds run wild, that, you might be able to imagine? Now, this isn’t like your standard pizza joint at all, not even slightly. This place kind of treats pizza as an blank canvas for a crazy load of seriously unique combinations of toppings, by the way. Want something spicy? Then there’s a pizza for you. More like something savory and sweet? Of course, there is actually also that too, alright.

Okay, but what are some things to really try out? Basically, well, now, first, their specialty pizzas, that come pretty much overloaded with flavors, that that make sure there’s a bite for everyone at the table. In addition to pizza, I want to also tell you that they have these handmade calzones and a decent salad bar, too it’s almost like those are perfect for kind of making the meal, now, more of a meal, as a matter of fact. Actually, families find this spot to be quite a casual option with good food and large portions.

3. My Brother’s Place: Comfort Food Done Right

Okay, now, for really some comfort food classics, is that what we like? Arguably, My Brother’s Place fits, sort of, fits, that requirement almost exactly, arguably? Right, so expect a very homey vibe and a menu sort of full of those things your mother or grandmother actually might have cooked for you, by the way.

When it comes to recommendations, of course, don’t pass up trying the burgers. They really like using really local beef, so then those always taste seriously fantastic. Then you could even try things such as the smothered fries and the onion rings. These are seriously kind of popular sides that will bring joy, so, you are sure to be very happy? Very popular are also their breakfast platters which can start any day on a, by the way, satisfying foot, more or less. In that case, portions are also quite huge here and service is fast, actually, alright.

4. Florence Brewing Company: More Than Just a Pit Stop

Okay, time for something that’s going to be liquid, yes? You’ll probably find the Florence Brewing Company now a great place for local craft beers, I mean, that being said. So, it’s just outside of Cañon City, in the nearby town called Florence, for the most part.

Let’s say you’re into hoppy IPAs or something a little darker like a stout. Is that you? So, that the brew list at Florence has, basically, usually got something there that’ll, more or less, probably fit right, as a matter of fact, isn’t it, that being said? Basically, beyond the beer, then you may also find that you appreciate that this spot sometimes hosts things like live music nights, even, by the way. Plus it’s typically a very family-friendly spot in general, I would argue, too.

5. World’s End Brewing Company: Cañon City’s Own Brew Haven

Last but certainly not least, that is now actually closer, so, to be sure, we must give a nod now to Cañon City’s World’s End Brewing Company. Actually, it serves as another stellar brewery. Their lineup usually features everything from really lighter ales to actually stronger, by the way, bolder flavors.

Beyond the beer itself, actually World’s End offers a pretty friendly environment and a space to hang. Is this something we value? Good, too it’s almost a great stop when people, by the way, want a taste now, and in short, if you want kind of a more chill and casual sort of, well, place to end now the day.
