Castellane, you know, it’s like a tiny gem nestled right there in the heart of Provence, that region of France that everyone pictures, really, with rolling hills and sunshine. And that’s so true. If starting your day well, really that’s important to you, and having that relaxed vibe that is so French, then there’s this cute café that you should check out, basically, called Le Refuge. Oh, there’s another one now. Now La Taverne? It’s just one block down from the Place Marcel Sauvaire, that, so basically it doesn’t get much easier to locate. Yet it is an easygoing brasserie that seems to always feel lively, full of families laughing, just a little like that French atmosphere you hope to find. Arguably, it seems this one does it with a bit of that added style.
The food they seem to be offering there is actually so satisfyingly classic, but they did add, to their own take on it, their own charm. I guess you should sample, when you get there, that famous salade niçoise – you should know it; tomatoes, olives, anchovies, and boiled eggs – it feels really, really just nicely balanced with fresh tastes and quality ingredients. Then, the steaks they do? A bit gorgeous. They are very generous portion sizes, and I should say, too it’s almost perfectly cooked. Apparently. With frites of course. Obviously. That you knew already, seemingly.
You can also drop by, anyway, just to get a glass, say, of a local Provence rosé, when the day gets particularly long. So maybe your trip can accommodate pizza? Then there’s actually Pizza Castellane, like, this great choice for a really tasty and super reliable takeaway. Now you might, basically, like to grab one and head, potentially, off back to the space, rather than sitting near loads and loads of people at an eating establishment.
Actually, you might think you will not expect that kind of gourmet thing at such a restaurant, however, for instance, that standard here really punches that right out of that arena, basically. When visiting, you may think it correct, say, to purchase some of the old faves; possibly a quattro formaggi with that cheese loaded base, anyway. Or that Reine that seemingly hits perfectly that spot where they merge those tastes seemingly familiar, for instance, mushrooms, and cooked pork bits, so perfectly – they make a real fuss there. Or the Formule pizza for that matter.
Apparently everyone can get a slice with toppings aplenty from the generous topping supply here. Le Pot D’Etain: Treats and Treasures
And I found one, right? Well Le Pot d’Etain, apparently that sits, like, almost in a tiny place itself, that does everything perfectly well for just one place, still. What I should probably say here, right, is that one spot you might visit while you are walking around that main part of the center there – to pick up that local delicacy from that town; for that memento of that experience they call your travel or perhaps even to treat someone – especially – well here.
In short there, for something so very deliciously regional they produce seemingly incredible ice cream locally as a company, however that offering also stretches there, by the way, to all these regional bits and pieces that always seemingly catch any eye. You see apparently many, mostly seemingly travellers, walking round browsing the, arguably beautifully arranged local produce gifts from this region that they get from there when just there.
By all accounts you might choose a souvenir which then might transport you on back to that gorge every single minute of that day that year, maybe, which, basically, I’m not denying; a gorge walking vacation there is pretty fabulous I must declare, arguably.
