2. History Comes Alive in Plymouth

Want a step back in time? So, Plymouth’s where it’s at, or very close to it, you know? See, about an hour’s drive northwest of Chatham exists a town that’s full of history. I am talking about the story of the Pilgrims and the Mayflower. History buffs, basically you won’t be bored!

What to do: Plymouth Rock, a landmark, actually sounds like a starting point, I feel. You will get a strong sense of the Pilgrim’s first step on American soil, it just happens that way! Head over to Plimoth Patuxet Museums too. And what that shows are these wonderfully detailed reenactments of 17th-century life. You’re able to check out the Mayflower II which, too it’s almost obvious, it’s an amazing reproduction of the original ship.

5. Island Hopping to Nantucket

Alright, a trip to Nantucket feels kind of epic for a day trip, it just seems that way to me. That is, however, totally doable with the ferry from Harwich Port (it’s slightly more than half an hour from Chatham), isn’t it. A high-speed ferry that only lasts one hour could easily see you hop over to this storied island where history blends in a really chic setting, you will see!
