Chianti Day Trips: Top 5 Unforgettable Tuscany Escapes
Tuscany, you know, is very famous for its rolling hills, tasty wine, and picturesque towns. So, it’s almost like a postcard come to life. Now, picture this: you’re in Florence and you fancy, you know, a little breather from the city. The solution? That could very well be, Chianti, like your back garden that you never had! I mean, a quick hop over to the Chianti region, and suddenly, well it’s another world full of vineyards and really appealing villages.
1. Greve in Chianti: The Gateway to Chianti Classico
Greve in Chianti, which some have referred to, well, the ‘Gateway to Chianti Classico,’ is quite the charmer. It’s got, like, a triangular piazza filled with artisan shops, and some flower decked balconies that are all trying to entice tourists inside the stores for wine. Anyway, I happened to stroll around this area. I picked up a couple trinkets, a nice glass of local vino and the rest they say is history. You could say this spot really captures, almost, like, the spirit of Chianti.
And now, to wet your beak: you could, actually, visit the Museo del Vino. If you’re more of a market type person, there are vendors at the weekend. And, as a matter of fact, it is full of, you know, local stuff, like cheeses, oils and cured meats, if, arguably, that is your type of thing. For getting about, like, you could join a guided tour, of course, or go by rental vehicle. And even use the buses that will drop you outside the local area, even that could, arguably, be useful. 2. Panzano: A Foodie’s Paradise
Panzano is actually rather well perched up on a hill. Anyway, the views? That said they are gorgeous. It is, still, famous thanks to Dario Cecchini, like this rockstar butcher with the gift of gab that almost single handedly is looking after and pushing forward the traditions of the region! So, you could always try one of his tasting platters. Or take a course or even just marvel at him, by just observing. One man making a living through his meat, really.
Anyway, when I got myself there. Like, the smell alone, yeah? It’s an experience. Now, as I was saying, apart from the butchery side of things, you could pop, sort of, around the local churches. In fact, take a snap of the landscape with all those vine leaves from, virtually, every direction and you could find it is as perfect a landscape as you can actually make out from just viewing! But as a matter of fact, Panzano can offer the sights and bites. You can find out even more about the location here: Panzano in Chianti Full Review and Details.

3. Castellina in Chianti: Medieval Charm
Castellina in Chianti, which, clearly, sits high up, as though on a mountain, anyway, looks out over the valleys all around it. We were fortunate to find ourselves almost lost in those small roads that are located there. Not forgetting that tunnel under the city, for the photographs, yeah? Like something out of Assassin’s Creed or an old movie. It looks like the medieval type. Take photos of everything! Actually. You would not expect such interesting little turns in those spaces!
And so, you get yourself down there to do some sightseeing: Visit the fortress! Walk around the local, historic area to discover the local region. Basically. Do yourself a favor and try the Etruscan tomb thing. It would probably interest someone to discover this area! But I think as a matter of fact, Castellina, actually, offers you an opportunity to explore a medieval past. 4. Radda in Chianti: A Relaxing Escape
Radda in Chianti, seemingly, has walls built all around it. Now, there’s an appeal that you can feel when you start wandering. We saw it has the Palazzo del Podestà, where that is just a perfect example of medieval designs. As well as buildings going as far back as what, a couple of hundred years? That is interesting if that is actually to believed.
Then there is, also, that walk around the local walkways where you can take snaps and photographs that some consider should win contests with its beauty. If I remember we managed to eat there. At the local winehouse where the location sold stuff at a bargain! Radda offers its very own kind of laid back kind of Tuscan charm for your own vacation. 5. Volpaia: The Quintessential Tuscan Village
Volpaia, clearly, a small village on a hilltop, seems that it’s been done in time itself. It feels like everything and every stone is like a rustic kind of feel, really offering up those moments for you when taking pictures! By the way, Volpaia is like seeing living pictures, in the area when one is discovering Chianti.
Then as a matter of fact, if you like castles then this is another one that is able to allow the public to look. Obviously, with a ticket purchase, anyway! What I would say if I could offer my recommendation is this. Taste all the Tuscan stuff being sold at shops, it is something that should really be shouted from the rooftops due to how yummy it actually tastes! That being said it offers itself as a really stunning spot for anybody to get some peace for them, while taking on all those landscapes.
