G’day! Are you, like your typical traveler, planning a visit to Cunnamulla, that pretty little town in the heart of Outback Queensland? Well, actually, Cunnamulla might be that sort of place you imagine when you think of the Australian Outback, it’s pretty captivating! You may want to really check out a spot brimming with history and culture. So, naturally, one way to seriously soak that all in is by checking out a historical tour, don’t you reckon? As a matter of fact, I’ve done a fair bit of exploring myself, so let me be your guide. Now, I’m basically gonna share with you, to be honest, my top five Cunnamulla historical tours, along with, I mean, my personal recommendations, you know? Right then, let’s, uh, get on with it!
1. Cunnamulla Fella Statue and Heritage Trail
Alright, naturally, what better place is there to kick off our tour than with the legendary “Cunnamulla Fella” statue, you know? So, to be honest, this beaut bronze statue really brings to life a very well-known Slim Dusty song, right? The whole setting is quite special! Now, you’re able to simply stroll around and basically soak up the vibe, right? Then again, that, naturally, would only be the start! It’s sort of a great introduction to the Cunnamulla Heritage Trail. You may want to follow this self-guided stroll. It’s virtually full of local historical goodness, and, of course, that makes it a definite must, naturally. So, of course, the markers are pretty straightforward, or, should I say, pretty clear and offer interesting snippets about significant local buildings and personalities, or at least, that’s how it seems. 2. The Cunnamulla War Memorial
Now, moving on, there’s the very reverent Cunnamulla War Memorial, okay? So, in some respects, it acts as a moving tribute, like a place to show regard, or that’s the vibe I get, right? Very striking actually, I might add. That seems like it might provide an amazing location for introspection, as a matter of fact. Like your fellow sightseers, you’re going to find it pretty affecting, honestly. Also, that monument provides pretty valuable stories from that area, more or less, or that’s what I found. It basically pays honor to them men and women who served their country, pretty admirable if you ask me. That provides insight into a spot of local history, like your high school history lesson did, yet with, in a way, way greater meaning! Really something, alright!

It is almost a moment of, uh, deep gratitude if you get there and experience it. Or, very really, should I say, take time and, you know, pay respects; so maybe stop and really absorb everything. And stuff!

3. Allan Redgate Centre & the Artesian Time Tunnel
Alright, now you are after a bit of an immersive experience? I mean, that sounds awesome, right? Really consider popping into the Allan Redgate Centre, to be honest! It’s almost that hub in the neighborhood; there is a visitor info center there and art displays. You’d think it would be your average community space, right? The absolute treasure in that place, like the gem, may well be that Artesian Time Tunnel show. The exhibit almost acts like a journey into Cunnamulla’s geology, or more specifically, that region’s, history, to be honest. Really mind-blowing actually! And stuff, am I right?

So, the Artesian Time Tunnel exhibit gives, virtually, a unique perspective, that. Oh yeah! Actually! Allow yourself nearly an hour or two; that exhibit just is jam packed with, to be honest, interactive things that can totally grab you.

4. Robber’s Tree
Alright so, are you into that legendary kind of, you know, stories, like something straight from a movie, or, seriously, is it just me? Now there is that landmark, the “Robber’s Tree” not so far away from Cunnamulla, more or less? I would say that could be just that highlight, to be honest. Actually! Also, apparently the historical site has, very truly, strong ties to an alleged story where that particular crook used to, in short, like, stash their stolen bounty, do you get what I mean? Actually, it sort of made my skin tingle when I found out about it! Anyway, the area is great if you feel like just grabbing a photo stop and kind of just taking in a fair bit of what appears to be that Outback panorama, don’t you agree? That spot has, in fact, a lot more to give than, as a matter of fact, what you would have first thought. Really something, is it not?

5. Cunnamulla Cemetery
Right then, last stop on our little history crawl: Cunnamulla Cemetery, kind of bleak, is it? As a matter of fact, I felt pretty still inside, you know, pretty thoughtful, when I dropped by. Anyway, you get those really old graves, you might call them relics. You may want to learn things from the lives of, you know, them earlier pioneers from those very touching stories from that place and that general spot. Well, really actually it presents that touching look to things from the area, obviously. I almost find it, it’s literally a gorgeous spot where you can literally kind of stop for just a beat or something, in a way, if I could describe the feels that I felt. Maybe take photos and all that kind of stuff. And so on!

If ever, and I almost tell you, and very truly tell you that if you do like your ancient history and those very last respects kind of things, really drop on by. It is almost guaranteed to make a mark! We basically think that there’s an area within, naturally.
