The Onboard Experience: Was the Boat Really “VIP”?
Okay, so let’s talk about the boat itself, because that’s a big part of the “VIP” claim, right? The vessel was a two-level motor yacht, and honestly, it felt very roomy. A key difference we noticed pretty much immediately was the number of people; as a matter of fact, the guides had capped the number of guests to make sure it didn’t feel packed. You could literally walk from the front to the back without squeezing past lots of people. There was a big sun deck on the top level with some genuinely comfortable beanbags and cushions, which, you know, were claimed almost immediately. Downstairs, there was a nice shaded seating area, which was actually perfect for when the sun got a little too strong. The whole boat was, frankly, spotlessly clean, including the washrooms, which, let’s be honest, is not always the case on these kinds of day trips.
The crew really made a difference, too. They were, in a way, attentive without being intrusive. Someone was always circulating, offering soft drinks, water, tea, or coffee, and you never really had to wait for anything. They seemed to genuinely want everyone to be comfortable and have a good time. There was also a photographer on board, which is pretty standard for these excursions. He wasn’t pushy, though; he just took pictures throughout the day and you could, you know, choose to look at them or buy them later on. Basically, the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. Unlike some party boats you could hear from a distance, our boat had very low-key music playing, so you could just sit back and appreciate the sound of the waves and the feeling of the sun. The Big Moment: Searching for and Finding the Dolphins
Now, for the main event, the whole reason it’s called the “Dolphin House” trip. The captain steered us out into the open water, and for a while, there was just the blue of the sea and the sky. He was on his radio, obviously communicating with other boats in the area to get a bead on where the dolphins might be. There is, of course, no guarantee you will see them, as the guides remind you, since these are completely wild animals. You just kind of cross your fingers and stare at the horizon. After about an hour of sailing, a little bit of impatience started to set in for me. You start thinking, maybe today isn’t the day. It tends to be a waiting game sometimes.

You could see them so clearly in the turquoise water, their movements so smooth and effortless. Seeing them in their natural habitat, wild and free, is a completely different feeling from seeing them in an aquarium. It’s almost a profound experience, you know. Honestly, it was a moment that made the entire cost of the trip feel worthwhile.
Beneath the Waves: Our Snorkeling Stops
After the incredible dolphin sighting, the mood on the boat was pretty much electric. We then motored over to our first snorkeling location. The crew helped everyone get kitted out with masks, snorkels, and fins, which were all actually in very good condition and properly sanitized. A guide went into the water first, which was reassuring for some of the less confident swimmers on board. As soon as you put your face in the water, it was like entering another world. The water clarity was absolutely amazing; you could literally see for what felt like miles. The coral reef here was a pretty spectacular garden of different shapes and sizes.
We saw so much marine life, seriously. There were these dazzling yellow and black striped sergeant major fish everywhere, and brilliant blue-green parrotfish were just chomping away on the coral. I even saw a Picasso triggerfish, which honestly looks exactly like its name suggests—a little work of art. We spent about 45 minutes at this spot before the crew called us back for lunch. The second stop later in the afternoon was slightly different. The reef was more like a steep wall that dropped off into a deep blue, which was a bit more dramatic. Here, the fish were a bit bigger, and we saw a large Napoleon wrasse just sort of hanging out near the reef’s edge. The guide pointed out a moray eel hiding in a crevice, which I definitely would have missed on my own. It was a really full and amazing underwater experience, to be honest.
Breaking Down the “VIP” Difference and the Food
So, what really makes this a “VIP” trip compared to the dozens of standard options? For us, it more or less came down to three things: comfort, service, and the quality of the food. The comfort factor was huge; not being crammed onto a boat with fifty other people really changes the whole dynamic of the day. You have space to relax, you’re not queueing for everything, and it just feels far more exclusive. The service, as I mentioned, was just very attentive and friendly. For instance, after snorkeling, the crew were right there with towels and offers of a hot drink, which was a small but very welcome detail.
And then there was the lunch. Okay, so on many boat trips, lunch can be a pretty sad affair of some pasta salad and a dry roll. Here, it was a completely different story. They had a small barbecue grill at the back of the boat, and as we were snorkeling, the crew were grilling chicken skewers and kofta. The smell alone was amazing. When lunch was served, it was a buffet with the fresh-off-the-grill meats, baked fish with lemon, about five or six different types of fresh Egyptian salads, tahini, hummus, and freshly baked bread. Frankly, it was one of the best meals we had during our entire stay in Hurghada. They also served fresh fruit for dessert later in the afternoon. At the end of the day, paying a little extra meant you were actually getting a high-quality experience in every department.
Some Friendly Advice for Your Dolphin House Day
If you’re planning on booking this trip, here are a few thoughts that might help you have an even better time. First, you should absolutely bring biodegradable, reef-safe sunscreen. The guides talk about protecting the coral, and this is a really simple way you can help, you know. I’d also suggest bringing a long-sleeved rash guard or an old t-shirt to wear while snorkeling. Even with waterproof sunscreen, the Egyptian sun is very powerful, and it’s so easy to get a burned back without realizing it. A hat and polarized sunglasses are, of course, a must-have for the time you spend on the boat itself.
Definitely, bring an underwater camera or a waterproof pouch for your phone if you have one. You will honestly want to capture the amazing sights under the water. The onboard photographer is good, but taking your own pictures is, like, part of the fun. Also, just manage your own expectations about the dolphins. While sightings are very common in this area, they are still wild animals on their own schedule. Go for the whole experience—the beautiful boat ride, the incredible snorkeling, and the lovely lunch—and then consider the dolphins an absolutely amazing bonus if and when they appear.
