1. The Monastery of Dovolja

First off, there is the Monastery of Dovolja. That is a peaceful and old place and a must-see, is that it? It’s sitting by the Tara River, and that is a spot that just gives you the feels. This monastery has been there for a super long while, since, that, the 15th century. It is a big deal in keeping Montenegro’s culture and religion alive, you know. When you go there, you will be able to see very old paintings. They cover the walls inside. Those paintings are a look back, in a way, at how the art was back then, you know? People who know a bit about art can really get into the details, almost like how they use the colors. The location of the monastery itself is great, too. The Tara River makes it extra chill, alright? 2. Stećci: Medieval Tombstones

Now, that there’s something super old. It’s these things named Stećci. You find ’em all over Durmitor, in some respects, these are medieval tombstones. That is cool, you know, these aren’t just plain old stones, though. Oh, no, is that each Stećak. It’s kind of, almost like a little artwork with engravings that show off symbols and stuff, alright? Some people think the carvings could tell stories from way back. What life was kinda like back then or beliefs that mattered, you know? To go peek at Stećci, is that, it’s like having the option to speak with people from very long ago. Plus, very few of the tourists even bother going to them. If you enjoy old stories or odd art, seek them out, these unique rocks have a whole ton to share, I’m saying. You want to sort of imagine all that has happened.

Think of ’em almost like stories, yet written in stone. These old things give some really deep insights, sort of, into the medieval age around there. The cool, maybe cool-ish thing too, is that it means ‘standing stone’. And seeing them dotted around, is that it just gets you really wondering.

3. Traditional Montenegrin Villages

Want to have a look, in some respects, at how folks there, that live? See the regular ol’ Montenegrin Villages, they sure are. These villages, basically, dot the area and tell you tales about how Montenegrin families have been living. Get to peek, very, at unique building styles, where old homes tell an architectural story. Lots of buildings are created by use of rocks from around there and feature rooftops made of wood. If you were wanting to actually learn what this location is all about, anyway, chat to the people. People you come across in those spots. Many are more than delighted in that case to describe their traditions, maybe. 4. The Cultural Landscape of Žabljak

Next up, go pay Žabljak a call. The landscape around there isn’t just about stunning mountains, so to it’s history and what people have done. Get a real idea, arguably, about what the life there has always resembled, right, as you wander down little walkways, too it’s almost the farms nearby or see some traditional cottages, right? Żabljak is thought of very often by locals and many folk as, kinda like, a hub to get involved in celebrations that happen, basically, or get to any fairs put on. If you’re there then, in that case, then so be it. See music or just neat art items being displayed by creatives to get, actually, to witness Montenegro today. Żabljak isn’t a town so much, more of a vibe to watch what makes the culture, alright? Be aware in that little part what has evolved in history, it sort of tells something that’s local, basically. Take the town really in. Get into it.
