1. Quinta do Eiral: A Charming Family Affair

Quinta do Eiral Wine Tasting

Quinta do Eiral, it could be said, is that hidden gem you tell all your mates about, right? That little family-run vineyard that pretty nearly exudes rustic charm. It’s almost a step back in time in some respects. This pretty lovely spot really goes above and beyond that typical tourist trap vineyard. They’re proper dedicated to keeping their methods very sustainable and very respectful of Mother Earth, so it’s almost worth a look. Get this: all their wines are pretty much made with grapes grown right on their own land – like your proper homegrown stuff, so, right?

Imagine you, see, sipping on a very lovely glass of their fruity red or that really crisp white. You know, the kind that very nearly screams sunshine and good times? But wait, there’s so, very nearly, more. Their tasting tours come pretty damn highly rated. You’re treated more like some extended family member than just some regular old tourist. The owners will be on hand to tell all, actually, about the area’s viticulture, what it means to them and very nearly give you a good chinwag or two. It is almost like hanging out with some old mates whilst very nearly getting a nice education and a buzz at the same time! That has its merits, actually.

2. Morgado do Quintão: History in Every Sip

Morgado do Quintao Wine Tasting

Morgado do Quintão? Sounds rather fancy. Well, to be fair it might be rather deserving, really. Its pretty near a wine estate absolutely dripping in stories – we’re talking the oldest estate in the Algarve – so, it’s very nearly a step through time, almost. Imagine you ambling about amongst ancient vines, learning about wine that gets chucked into bottles there? See, very nearly picture that now, right?

But this place, well, it’s more than just dusty old history to be honest. It’s all about the very cool mix of very old traditions and pretty new innovation to be honest. They are still sticking with some super unique, super old grape varieties rescued from all but extinction, apparently, and the wines. You would have thought they tasted a bit, you know, like ‘meh’ but you’d be very mistaken actually, since they’re knocking out some of the edgiest bottles around so they are, arguably, bang on-trend. Seriously, treat those tastebuds and find out. You never know, eh? Who knew old vines could pack such a pretty fresh punch? Actually quite impressive!

Adega do Cantor Wine Tasting

Hold on to your hats actually. Because this next vineyard does very nearly have a very lovely celebrity twist about it. Yep, you saw correctly. Cliff Richard. Popping bottles rather than charting so they do, that is the one. The Adega do Cantor is, well, Sir Cliff’s Algarvean baby and boy, you might well know it, it gets talked about round this locale, right? This one pretty nearly comes into the frame for the fact its very lovely and produces nice wine, sure. That being said you can be absolutely bang on certain that you can boast to those mates you are swigging from a vintner created from the loins of pop stardom. And how many wine tours give you THAT back home?! Exactly none. Get it booked. You deserve to be bopping some fancy grapes to the sounds of ‘Summer Holiday’ – it is something else and no mistake.

4. Quinta dos Vales: Wine and Art Combined

Quinta dos Vales Wine Tasting

Now, Quinta dos Vales, pretty nearly blurs the lines separating oenophiles and arty lot in some respects. See, it might just be the very gorgeous intersection where wine pretty nearly meets artistic flair so, it does well on the gram, clearly. Yeah there is absolutely great quality wine, obviously. Loads of tour options from very straightforward sampling of what’s available through to, you know, making it yourself. What sets this lovely one apart is what’s peppered across the vineyard – massive sculptures so they do, contemporary works created by rather famed sculptors of their field. And why not?! You would almost like it as this weirdly satisfying wine safari. Snapping artwork. Whilst absolutely twirling a very lush Rose. Almost like an art critic if that critic was quite pissed.
