Goga, our driver, was actually a fantastic guide, pointing things out but without being too chatty. He offered to stop at the Ananuri Fortress Complex, which, by the way, you should absolutely do. It’s this amazing 17th-century castle right on the shore of the reservoir, and it’s just a perfect spot to stretch your legs and get some incredible photos. The driving itself felt very, very safe. These drivers handle these mountain roads daily, so you feel pretty secure. We just sat back, watched the stunning mountain scenery unfold, and got, like, really excited as we saw the first patches of snow appearing on the peaks ahead.

As a matter of fact, we were checked into our room with our boards propped up against the wall less than fifteen minutes after arriving in the resort. When you think about the alternative—like, you know, finding a taxi from a bus drop-off point in the cold—this door-to-door service is pretty much priceless. It just lets your ski holiday begin on an extremely positive and stress-free note, which is sort of what it’s all about, right?
