Khinkali: Juicy Dumpling Delight
Alright, Khinkali are like, huge dumplings, and they’re totally one of the best parts of Georgian cooking. As a matter of fact, they’re not just food. They’re like, an experience. They’re usually packed with meat, though vegetarian kinds do exist, like your mushroom and potato ones. Also, they’re cooked until they’re just brimming with flavorful broth. The ‘right’ way to eat them? Grab them by the little top knot, take a tiny sip of the broth first, then as a matter of fact, wolf the thing down. It is, really, the ultimate comfort food, particularly with a sprinkling of black pepper. Honestly, don’t even consider leaving Georgia before having your fair share!

Georgian Wine: A Sip of Ancient History
As a matter of fact, did you know Georgia is supposedly where wine originated? I mean, it’s even claimed to be the birthplace of wine! Anyway, that’s, a big deal, very historically important to them. The winemaking here uses methods, seemingly, that are thousands of years old. Often, it’s aged in qvevri, so big clay pots buried underground. This almost, makes for some very distinct tastes, pretty earthy and complex. Alright, whether or not you’re usually a wine drinker, really give Georgian wine a taste, as I was saying. Seriously, it’s a pretty awesome way to connect with the past. Plus, so many vineyards give tours! I mean, honestly what could be more incredible?

Churchkhela: The Georgian Snickers
Okay, so if you’re strolling down the street in Georgia, you are very, very likely to spot these hanging just about everywhere. Basically, they’re churchkhela, that are seemingly, like traditional Georgian candy. Imagine, basically, nuts – walnuts or hazelnuts are the most well-known – threaded onto a string. Right, that string then gets dipped, like, repeatedly, into thickened grape juice that has been sweetened. This whole process makes a coating that gets solid outside, a bit chewy, very like, kinda like a candle, really. A Georgian “Snickers” in a way. It’s arguably a very nice, very naturally sweet snack that is really good, so you may as well try one. It will give you energy while sightseeing!

Tarkhuna Lemonade: An Unusual Soda Pop
Anyway, looking for something to drink that’s very Georgian, pretty weird and just like nothing you’ve had? Well, just grab some Tarkhuna lemonade. The deal is that this soda gets its, kinda strange green color and kind of odd taste from tarragon. Which it very, very does very distinctively. Basically, at first it could be a bit strange, and some are just not that fond of it but, in some respects, lots of folks become big fans. Anyway, it is for sure, refreshing on a hot day. And so many places offer it, in reality, it’s almost, an experience to just to give it a go.
