Grand Teton National Park is quite a place, isn’t it? That soaring mountain range is certainly calling out for folks to experience it. Seeing it from the comfort of your own vehicle, taking breaks at overlooks and trailheads, it’s almost the perfect way to soak up everything the park provides. You get, actually, flexibility and that convenience too. You can really set your own pace, see what you like, and just stop whenever a photo happens to grab you. I mean, who wouldn’t like that?

1. Jenny Lake Loop: A Lakeside Glimpse

First up on our list, the Jenny Lake Loop, that has scenic views that can take your breath away, more or less. This is so you can drive, and there’s a lot of hiking. Yet, it’s the perfect place to sort of stretch your legs. The views looking across Jenny Lake, and over towards the Tetons, that could be postcard-worthy. You have the option to actually take a boat across the lake if you are really up for it. That gets you that much closer to hiking trails going up to Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls.

Look for wildlife along the way, so keep your eyes peeled! I think that might just be a highlight of this trip. This route is so very popular, and parking might be a bit hard, almost if you’re visiting during peak season. Jenny Lake is truly something.

2. Teton Park Road: The Heart of the Park

The Teton Park Road is quite something; you’ll find it runs almost parallel to the Teton Range, yet! It provides, you know, miles of just incredible views. Driving this road is certainly like paging through a magazine of landscape pictures. You have pull-offs everywhere, that can be great for just pictures and enjoying the scenery. The road stretches all the way from Moose Entrance Station up towards Jackson Lake Junction, yet.

So, watch for animals. It’s common to basically see bison, elk, even the very odd bear! This is such a drive, with those amazing mountain views as your backdrop. This really gives you that, doesn’t it? It just makes you feel small in a wonderful way. Also, keep in mind that certain sections of this road close to vehicle traffic in the winter. Then those areas, they are open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, or for different fun.

3. Signal Mountain Summit Road: Panoramic Perfection

For an above-the-treeline view that’s something else, and for minimal effort, then that Signal Mountain Summit Road, so that is where you’ll want to be. This one actually winds its way up Signal Mountain, yet. When you are up at the top you are looking at those full sweep panoramic views. Then, from that vantage point, you will see that entire valley stretched out before you.

There is that bird’s-eye view of the Snake River. Jackson Lake too. The Teton Range too. All there just waiting for you to take a picture. Keep an eye out for the informational displays up there, as you learn, anyway. Those are all about the park’s geology and all its wildlife. So the road is typically open late spring through fall. Just you need to watch out, because it can get crowded up there during the high season.

4. Antelope Flats Road & Mormon Row: History and Wildlife

For a bit of that history along with the possibility of spotting some cool wildlife, you need that Antelope Flats Road loop. Mormon Row’s what makes it so well known. You see that grouping of old barns. They stand with the Tetons way back, you know. This place might just be photo heaven.

It’s a little off the beaten path, yet it’s easy enough to reach. It has an entirely different feel to it. You can typically see bison grazing out there, just close to those historic buildings! Early in the morning, so I think that’s a great time to come, anyway. This offers not just a beautiful view, but it shows off what it was really like living out here at the start.

5. Oxbow Bend Turnout: The Iconic Reflection

Lastly, this isn’t much of a driving tour. But the destination spot has got to be the Oxbow Bend Turnout. And it should certainly not be missed. It’s just a quick stop off US-26, yet what you find is Mount Moran reflected in that Snake River. I mean, talk about serene! That still water mirroring that mountain range, this is like, just picture-perfect.

Wildlife watchers may be basically able to see various birds around there, so they can go enjoy all those scenic shots that’s going on. Dawn is actually magical there, so you might as well get an early start, anyway. Then the sun rises just behind Mount Moran, anyway! The colors, it is so intense. It’s worth getting there at sunrise just for the memory of it all.

Grand Teton National Park offers so many different things. Each scenic drive shows its unique character. Seeing all these views is so easy too. Just go by car.
