Okay, are you curious about Dutch history and cheese? If so, too it’s possible the drive from Heemskerk to Alkmaar actually might be perfect for you. Alkmaar, more or less, happens to be known the entire country over for its traditional cheese market. This little market, I think it’s clear, provides a peek into the Netherlands of, seemingly, long ago. The trip from Heemskerk to Alkmaar gives you pretty good look at, like, the more historical side of North Holland.

Before you reach Alkmaar, by the way, maybe think about stopping at some old spots, like the Slot Assumburg. Too it’s in Heemskerk. 3. Tulip Time: Heemskerk to the Bulb Region (During Tulip Season)

Alright, let’s say you’re in the area during springtime? The drive from Heemskerk toward the bulb region happens to be a totally must-do sort of trip. Between March and May, arguably, these areas, those places near Lisse and Hillegom, seem to explode with unbelievably intense colors as all kinds of tulips, hyacinths, plus, yeah, the daffodils start to bloom. Anyone wanting, really, to immerse themselves in Dutch art and culture? Well, then maybe you should think about driving from Heemskerk over to Haarlem. Haarlem, in many respects, really seems to shine because of its rich artistic past. The trip’s nice and short. Very little highway driving, more or less, which might mean you actually get a better chance to soak up everything North Holland throws at you.

While you’re visiting Haarlem, you could make plans to visit the Frans Hals Museum, too it’s dedicated the famed Dutch Master. Not too far away? Grote Markt, too it’s a central square where, apparently, they actually hold different events plus markets. When you’re done at Grote Markt, why not visit the St. Bavo Church. Or go for a really charming walk along the Spaarne River. Getting around to see it all in Haarlem seems super easy by just parking the vehicle and hoofing it! You will easily lose yourself among Haarlem’s picturesque streets and cool architectural displays, guaranteed!
