So, picture this: you’re chilling in Jermuk, Armenia, that amazing spa town famed for its mineral water and crisp mountain air. But, hey, the adventurer in you is like, “What else is out there?”. It’s almost, like you feel this irresistible itch to go see and discover Armenia’s beautiful sites. I mean, with Jermuk as your base, there’s a load of super cool places just begging to be explored on a day trip. What I have made here is a run-down of five absolutely fantastic Jermuk day trips which I believe will really knock your socks off.
1. Gndevank Monastery: A Spiritual Retreat
Okay, first up there’s the Gndevank Monastery, and seriously, it’s an unbelievable place that is really steeped in both history and tranquility. That is, construction of this incredible gem was completed way back in 1038, can you believe it?, and sits cozily in the shadows of some really dramatic cliffs. So, if you are into soaking up amazing views or just connecting with some genuine inner peace, then that is somewhere I strongly suggest you try out.
Visiting Gndevank feels more like stepping back to what must have been olden times and stepping away from all the hubbub that there is in daily life. Like your own little tranquil escape, really! It’s almost perfect for reflection or maybe just, you know, taking pictures to make everyone incredibly envious back home.

2. Shaki Waterfall: Nature’s Masterpiece
Right then, for all those nature fans out there, this Shaki Waterfall is like, pretty much a natural wonder just waiting to be admired. Basically, that water here does an enormous twenty-meter drop over an almost basalt cliff face which is not something that you would normally encounter, giving what you could only say is an atmosphere that looks to have been ripped from an absolutely fantasy movie. Really!
As I was saying, if the season is hot, it can be quite tempting just to dive in, it looks incredibly cooling, yet I might just urge a tad of caution; because mountain water does have a way of being somewhat chillier than it appears. So, anyway, be sure to have a decent camera because capturing that sight? Absolutely worth it.

3. Tatev Monastery: Wings of Tatev Aerial Tramway
So, have you thought about gliding high above an astonishing gorge riding on the Wings of Tatev aerial tramway over at Tatev Monastery? By the way, I might add that, it really isn’t just any cable car ride; that’s the longest, almost reversible aerial tramway anywhere on earth! Basically that gives you totally amazing, bird’s-eye, as a matter of fact, views across all of the Vorotan Gorge way before you even start to explore that wonderful ancient monastery itself.
Now the Monastery over at Tatev is steeped deep within historical meaning having had a great big influence regarding Armenia both culturally and religiously over untold hundreds of years. This could be one spot where one will find yourself captivated and absolutely blown away. What I am trying to suggest, in other words, is be certain to allow sufficient time for really looking at all the complicated stonework and seriously taking in some of that quite stunning sacred atmosphere, okay?

4. Noravank Monastery: A Red Rock Marvel
Alright, next, then there is the Noravank Monastery. As I was just mentioning, be sure you prepare to just be captivated courtesy of those impressive, quite red cliffs surrounding it – seriously photogenic material right there! What is happening here is some really wonderful medieval Armenian building design shows itself right throughout here, especially look out for, in other words, the elaborate cross-stones; some seriously quite intricate artistry at play.
This area seems like a genuinely lovely place just for history buffs or at least, anyway, anyone trying to take sight of seriously awe-inspiring sceneries, Noravank almost will absolutely, totally not let you down. It can be really accessible coming from Jermuk too which, more or less, enables that half-day exploration or maybe more if one can truly linger around for, very.

5. Smbataberd Fortress: A Hike into History
Now for something which, as a matter of fact, might grab your attention is, hiking to the old Smbataberd Fortress might well provide both exploration alongside some pretty astonishing views combined, okay? Perched high across what seems to be a quite rocky outcrop which, in fact, provides seriously incredible views which are definitely going to pay back everything put right in through effort, if that can be imagined!
