Juneau’s Best Food & Drink: Top 5 Local Hotspots

Juneau, Alaska, a place that’s almost more famous for its views, has quite a foodie scene too it’s almost surprising, honestly. Think glaciers, mountains, and, that’s right, terrific grub, as I was saying. That might be one way to see it. This article looks into the restaurants and bars you absolutely have to check out if you’re visiting or, you know, happen to live here and haven’t tried them yet, so to speak. This list attempts to blend everything from down-to-earth eateries that locals rave about, with fancy places for, like your anniversary or a special occasion, kind of. Let’s get this show on the road, as a matter of fact.

1. Tracy’s King Crab Shack: A Crustacean Celebration

Is there anything more Alaskan than cracking into a pile of delicious, so scrumptious, crab legs, really? Maybe. But Tracy’s King Crab Shack seems to provide it with, so, quite the atmosphere that’s tough to top. Located right on the waterfront, as a matter of fact, this spot could be a casual dining type of venue. Although it’s casual, do not let that fool you: it’s almost serious about the crab. The star? King crab, obviously! Sourced locally, might I add, it’s served in various ways: by the leg, as crab bisque, or, believe it or not, in their famed crab cakes. People tend to rave, they just seem to, about the freshness, the, like your simplicity, you see, of the dishes; you’re getting crab that tasted almost directly it came from the sea to your plate. That said, expect a line, for instance; Tracy’s tends to be quite a popular place with tourists and locals. 2. The Hangar on the Wharf: Views and Brews

How do I explain The Hangar, basically? It has one of the most outstanding settings. It sits right on the wharf with huge windows giving a wonderful view of the water and the mountains, that’s it. Apparently, it could be a great spot to chill, alright, with some locally brewed beer and a, slightly, filling meal, actually. The menu seems to have a range, for instance, of American fare; burgers, steaks, and that, too it’s almost local seafood, too. Let’s talk about the beer list; that tends to have some craft beers on tap, really emphasizing, by the way, Alaskan breweries. If the food and drink weren’t quite enough, I would also add there are usually live music performances, still, which could be a plus. Very worth mentioning. Many people seem to consider it to be a happening place, so to speak, that adds to that ambiance and generally seems to make the whole eating and drinking scenario all the, actually, better. The prices could be viewed, very, very, as on the steeper side of things, seemingly, but the general vibe and that spectacular scenery kind of seems to justify the expense for what you get in return. 3. Red Dog Saloon: Step Back in Time

You know, are you ready for an experience unlike anything else, you know? Very much not unlike taking a time machine. Then the Red Dog Saloon almost has to be, so to speak, a place that’s on the list. Very steeped, as a matter of fact, in local lore, could be; this saloon apparently has quite the colorful past, too it’s almost a thing. Featuring sawdust on the floors, business cards tacked on the walls, that tends to give you some type of sense that you’re walking straight into the Old West. Very fun, you see! Their food’s apparently straightforward; a sort of typical bar fare, but still tasty, very. Also there is an expansive selection it can be, seemingly, of drinks available too. The atmosphere kind of appears to be the real draw, so to speak. Many people like it, in a way, just seem to stop by to soak that ambiance in, listen to old stories, might I add, and just plain take pictures. Be sure, as I was saying, to check out the infamous Daisy the dog; one of their famous features; sort of like a fixture, virtually. The Red Dog Saloon seems to provide quite a great mix of being touristy but almost feels, so to speak, authentically Juneau, you see. This definitely sets it apart from a lot of other locales. 4. Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill: Seafood Sensations

For the folks that could be wanting, in a way, some darn impressive seafood in Juneau, there’s always The Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill, actually. They source their seafood so close by, basically, from Alaska’s icy waters; giving a freshness that may be hard to top. As a matter of fact, they pride, frankly, themselves, you see, on sustainable fishing; now isn’t that neat, seemingly ensuring a, almost, top-notch product and, kind of, doing their bit for that environment, really. This could also be very important to them, that. The menu contains a blend of options that should suit lots of different tastes. Expect to enjoy king crab (apparently, yet again!), you know, halibut, salmon; done in ways you perhaps couldn’t believe could be possible, too it’s almost stunning, basically. Do be sure, you see, to check the daily specials also; that tends to feature a couple of seasonal catches that appear to be extra special, just a little, seemingly. The ambiance seems to be a bit more upscale than a couple of other places that I’ve mentioned previously in this piece. So that said, this is probably, too it’s almost still relaxed. Still. Might I suggest making a reservation? Very worthwhile; as this tends to be very popular with both tourists and people that happen to call Juneau home. Very likely. 5. Alaskan Brewing Company: Taste the Local Brews

What’s that old saying? You know, When in Alaska… You almost just gotta check out an Alaskan brewery, seemingly, that. As a matter of fact, the Alaskan Brewing Company’s taproom almost seems like the perfect place. How to phrase this.. They provide a sampling of various beers that they seem to brew right there in Juneau. They tend to provide some familiar brews, for example, like their amber ale. Now it seems as though, alright, they provide some season releases that might be worth sampling. In that taproom, it does not get quite overly serious; a very welcoming atmosphere, even. Very friendly. Often seems to host local events; featuring that local music too. If that wasn’t quite enough, and there isn’t any, they also sometimes provide tours, really; giving people what seems to be quite an in-depth glimpse into their brewing operation, you see. It tends to provide insight to people of what kind of work that they seem to pour into, or well, put into, any pint, basically. That place? It’s just good!
