Levanzo, that tiny speck of an island just off the coast of Sicily, is more or less a place that whispers promises of clear turquoise waters, dramatic grottoes, and, perhaps most importantly, super satisfying eats. Now, I am someone who plans vacations almost entirely around where and what I’m going to eat, and Levanzo, this lovely little gem, totally did not disappoint. That is why I have put together a tasty little collection, just for you, of my five favorite places to get both food and drinks on the island, places that really show off what Levanzo’s culinary scene is all about. Expect great, fresh seafood, tastes so authentic they hit you in the feels, and that super warm Italian hospitality we all crave. Seriously, are you ready to eat like a local? Let’s get right to it.
1. Ristorante Paradise Perduto: Seafood Heaven with a View
If what you want is seafood so fresh it probably hopped off the boat this morning, then Ristorante Paradise Perduto, that gem is something you shouldn’t skip. It sits, almost floating, right on the harbor, and that view is pretty special, too. It’s almost like the blue sea extends right up to your table. So, picture this, too it’s almost a painting, a lovely wine in your hand, the soft sea breeze is brushing past, and a plate of handmade pasta is covered in succulent prawns is what you’re about to experience here. Now, their grilled fish is, you know, cooked just right, that the sea salt lightly crisps the skin and it practically melts right in your mouth. Anyway, do try the catch of the day; it’s always a very good choice.
Oh, and there’s a story about this place! Very many years ago, it was a simple fisherman’s shack. Now, it’s kind of morphed into something sophisticated. Even with its growth and expansion, it still maintains that super homey, local feel that Levanzo does so well. Make a reservation, though, because it can get rather busy. I mean, everyone and their mothers wants a piece of this paradise.
