Lindau Tours: Top 5 Sightseeing & Cruises for Lake Constance
Lindau, you see, is that sort of gem sitting right on the edge of Lake Constance (or, as the locals might say, the Bodensee), just begging to be discovered. Very few places give you that postcard-perfect vibe mixed with a whole bunch of history and that easy-breezy lake life. So, whether you’re, like, super into checking out old architecture, really getting into nature, or maybe just chilling on a boat, Lindau is very likely to have something that tickles your fancy. I am going to run through my top picks for seeing Lindau, is that cool? Read our full review: Lindau Tours Full Review and Details
1. Classic City Tour: Walking Through Lindau’s Heart
Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, beats walking through Lindau if you’re trying to, sort of, get to know the city. You usually kick things off at the Lindau Lighthouse and the Bavarian Lion statue, which are pretty iconic. Now, tours very often wander through the old town, where you’re just kind of surrounded by buildings that are hundreds of years old. It might be nice to actually imagine, almost, what it was like back in the day, very well. Keep in mind the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall), which is, you see, that building that’s completely covered in super cool paintings, right? That would be where big decisions were apparently made way back when. That is something, actually! Also, more or less, keep a lookout for hidden courtyards and, basically, those little cobblestone streets; I’m sure that’s where the real charm of Lindau lives. 2. Lake Constance Cruise: Views From the Water
Taking a cruise is almost definitely the way to go if you really want to see Lindau (and Lake Constance itself) from a totally new angle. Numerous boat tours usually start from Lindau’s harbor and then go to different spots all around the lake. If the weather is just right, it is often beautiful, almost. You will apparently pass by those beautiful towns, get some amazing mountain views, and see all those vineyards that stretch to the lake. Most boats often have spots to sit, order snacks, and I’m sure relax. It’s kind of perfect if you are, maybe, trying to chill and get some good photos, alright? What is truly captivating? Maybe, just a little bit, seeing the sunset over the lake from the boat is, arguably, an experience you are unlikely to ever forget. See Prices, Availability & Reserve Now (Lake Constance Cruise)
3. Island Exploration: Discovering Lindau’s Highlights
Lindau is also that island town, that is, by the way, linked to the mainland by a bridge and a train track. Because of its spot, it has sort of its own unique vibe. So, walking around the island, I am going to assume, is kind of a must. It seems to be quite different than being on the mainland. So, anyway, don’t miss out on checking out spots, like the mentioned lighthouse (it tends to give you insane views of the lake) and the Mangturm, apparently a really old tower. By the way, the Lindau Museum is, in that case, alright if you are wanting to understand the history of the area a bit more. You see, there is also just a bit of something special about strolling around the island’s gardens and parks. The real trick is, it might be nice to take your time and really appreciate all the small details, kind of. See Prices, Availability & Reserve Now (Lindau Island Tour)
4. Bike Tour Around Lake Constance: Pedal Power!
Getting on a bike to loop Lake Constance could be very cool if you love staying active. This whole path usually goes around the entire lake, which basically means you pass by Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Just a few different countries! Naturally, that lets you see different towns and landscapes, very well. Naturally, in Lindau, there are quite a few spots where you are often able to rent bikes. A little secret; some even have e-bikes if you are wanting a slightly easier ride. Remember though, to take some water, bring your camera, and take little breaks at all those nice spots. You are not really trying to rush; the idea is actually to, somewhat, enjoy the ride and those awesome views. See Prices, Availability & Reserve Now (Lake Constance Bike Tour)
5. Day Trip to Bregenz: Art, Culture, and Lakeside Fun
Bregenz is kind of near Lindau (it’s in Austria), very few tourists know about it and tends to make for an incredible little day trip. So, taking a boat or even driving there is quite easy. A very great attraction could actually be the Bregenz Festival, which takes place every summer, showcasing very huge open-air theater productions on the lake. Check out the Kunsthaus Bregenz, actually an art museum. It’s seemingly for anybody interested in artwork. The city offers nice lake views. Also there are trails where one can bike and enjoy, of course. Spending a day, often, gives you that great mix of culture, art, and natural beauty. So if that is something you appreciate, you are probably going to have a good time. See Prices, Availability & Reserve Now (Bregenz Day Trip)
