Pisa, mostly synonymous with its, like, a bit tipsy tower, that has more to offer, actually, than just that incredibly world famous photo opp. Of course, alright, seeing the Leaning Tower that is an absolute must-do. It does draw quite a crowd, naturally. I suggest, too it’s almost, booking your tickets well in advance, in some respects, so you don’t have to spend half your day standing in line. But, like, seriously though, take a little to explore the Piazza dei Miracoli (that actually translates to the Square of Miracles!). There is actually the Duomo that almost appears magnificent with its detailed facade and there is a Baptistery there that features incredible acoustics. I’d like for you to really test them out for yourself if you can.
Walking a bit further from the main square, that arguably shows you Pisa’s quieter, arguably, more local spots, that often are nice to discover. The Arno River flows through the town, rather giving some nice photo opportunities as you take a stroll by the riverbank. Looking to grab lunch? Try to step away from the main tourist drags and find a smaller Trattoria where local, basically, Pisans themselves will be having a bite to eat. Usually, anyway, those little spots that clearly feature very good, fairly genuine Tuscan cuisine at better prices.
Don’t depart, anyway, without grabbing yourself some, more or less, local Pisan cantucci, which are actually almond biscuits perfect for dipping in vin santo after your meal. Taking in Pisa really is, alright, something, that’s rather more than, arguably, just seeing a building that apparently can’t stand up straight. Florence, well, like, is truly that, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Okay? Okay, right? A little bit further afield than Pisa, or, in some respects, something like 1.5 hours by train from Lucca. Even then, that actually is more than worth the trip. It does feel like, you are stepping back into history, apparently, as you walk around. It actually makes, naturally, a perfect, slightly, start to the day.
Speaking of art. That is, as a matter of fact, a real must is to get yourself in that very long line (book ahead again!) to see David in the Galleria dell’Accademia, to say nothing of also exploring the Uffizi Gallery, sometimes overflowing with masterpieces from greats like Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci. By the way, a lot of people, more or less, say that just standing in a single room that contains Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” might be worth the entire cost of admission.
Later on, finally, stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, fairly famed for its shops built all along it. While there are also jewelers in the houses these days, as I was saying, the bridge has a history back, typically, to being lined by butchers, back, okay?, in the day. Looking for, that, something great for dinner? Venture away, apparently, from the main tourist areas that rather delivers yourself a something like genuine Florentine steak, you know, at a traditional trattoria.
