1. Discover the Spiritual Heights of Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo Jordan

Mount Nebo, often drawing those on a religious trip, is that place you’ve got to see, because of more than just religion. That’s right, so you can walk where it’s believed Moses viewed the Promised Land. The feeling is pretty amazing, yet, if you are even a bit into scenery, the views are why you’re here. On a really nice day, that is, you can spot the Dead Sea and even places far off like Jericho and Jerusalem, that’s pretty amazing. The church there has mosaics, old and kept in pretty good condition; that alone is something. Walking around up there, that’s a good way to get some steps in while enjoying some history mixed with insane views. It is a favorite for many.

2. Delve into History at the Madaba Mosaic Map

Madaba Mosaic Map

Ok, so maybe looking at a map doesn’t sound that adventurous, but believe me. The Madaba Mosaic Map that is, in the Church of Saint George, isn’t just any map; it’s like stepping way back to the 6th century. The mosaic floor shows the oldest geographic map ever of the Holy Land, using more than two million pieces of colored stone. It’s super detailed and was created many centuries ago. Seeing it makes you think about history and all those people, then you understand the region in a slightly clearer way. Taking a stroll through the church, just looking down at that old map, it is something you don’t see anywhere else. The rest of the mosaics are wonderful, so you’re killing two birds. This is a definite activity for that brain of yours.

3. Hike Through Wadi Mujib

Wadi Mujib hiking

Want to hike through water? That is, you should head out to Wadi Mujib, a canyon adventure for something completely different. This natural reserve will take you on foot straight through slot canyons; at times, you’ll be swimming. You get to choose different trails depending, a bit, on what you are up for, yet expect to get really wet no matter what. It’s perfect in that insane heat too. Climbing over rocks with water rushing past is not your everyday walk, yet the cool thing is you don’t have to be an expert hiker. The area has the coolest geological make up, then you are completely surrounded by these towering cliff walls. The nature, well, the birds, the plants, all come together.

4. Float on the Dead Sea

Dead Sea Jordan

The Dead Sea, so you might think this is not actually in Madaba, and it isn’t quite, it’s a day trip from there, but it’s one people love. The lowest point on earth is very salty, yet the minerals make you float super easy without even trying, pretty wild, as a matter of fact. Plus, they are supposedly healthy for your skin; you know, so that mud. Apart from the floating thing, which let’s face it, is pretty fun and definitely strange, the view as you lay there on top of the water is memorable, basically with mountains around you. Lots of places near the sea come with spas where they pamper you with treatments using those special Dead Sea things, such as salts and mud, too it’s almost impossible to not relax. Taking a dip here gives you pictures and stories.

5. Soar Above in a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hot Air Balloon Madaba

For the ultimate view and feeling of freedom, a hot air balloon over Madaba really needs to be considered. Seriously, like, it is that thing to do if you like to splurge on experiences. Gliding gently in the air at sunrise as the sun comes up paints everything with the prettiest colors. The views from above give you a better look at how the lands change and get a better idea of how it all fits together. Everything seems so chill. The calm as you slowly float over everything, yet those panoramic shots, it’s one way of making a trip special. It is very Instagram worthy.
