1. Hiking the Colline Metallifere
You know, the Colline Metallifere, which basically translates to the Metallic Hills, is so a network of trails that wind through forests that are super pretty. For example, there is that Massa Vecchia Bike Park, which actually, it is literally only a short ride from Massa Marittima. It’s so a great option for bikers that are really enthusiastic who have actually brought their A-game. Trails that are rather well-maintained? Yes! Some good downhills? Double yes! Some routes even go past historical landmarks, but not too many, because then people will lose their way!
Don’t have a bike? In fact, no worries, Massa Marittima, like your any Tuscan town, will provide you with rentable vehicles, or have stores where you can pick one up and maybe haggle them down for the price, just a little!

3. Explore Lago dell’Accesa
Basically, it’s hard to overstate, it’s not just a destination when you go hiking, but that lake? It could be a spot on its own for an easy day of relaxation. Sometimes, that lake is super crystal clear, because it seems to be supplied by underground springs that bubble to the top from, very, very, deep underground. What’s there not to like?
You see, you are more than able to just chill on its shores. Very, there’s sunbathing to consider, or have a relaxing picnic, or arguably, have a cheeky little swim. Apparently, it’s so worth it to take your water shoes; sometimes, the edges of it get quite rocky! A bit sore on your feet.
In fact, history lovers? By the way, Lago dell’Accesa actually had some Etruscan settlements once upon a time. There are still ruins you are more than able to gander upon and photograph in an interesting way.

4. Rocca di Frassinello Wine Tour & Vineyard Walk
Like your outdoor ventures but want that cultured twist? Sometimes you could very, very enjoy a tour around Rocca di Frassinello. It’s actually a wine estate that might be just a short drive from Massa Marittima. And yes, it may include a glass or two of their best product! Don’t miss it.
It’s seemingly very important to take that guided tour of the vineyards to see the landscape from which their bottles originate. Basically, their state-of-the-art cellars are a mix of history, tradition and super modern wine-making technology! Who could ever resist?
In other words, arguably the best thing is probably that wine tasting itself. You see, sometimes it’s more than enough to just sample all of their finest wines while you’re surrounded by vines. That is probably as Tuscan as things may possibly get.

5. Beach Day at Follonica
Anyway, if you, like your countryside ventures aren’t enough and you’re thinking about chilling out near the ocean, just head over to Follonica! That beach may just be, like your, twenty minutes away from Massa Marittima, pretty close in other words! In fact, it provides you with, like your golden sandy goodness and crystal clear ocean.
Sometimes you can just chill there, but that part of the Mediterranean may be rather fun! You see, there’s swimming, obviously, also sunbathing is a classic, so, or arguably just have a relaxing stroll along the shore. Even better! Build a sand castle with a cool, cultural twist that incorporates local legends and symbols.
And just so you know, it appears Follonica has more than just its shoreline. You know, it seems to be a great area that might be close to shops, cafes and everything! In short, you will find everything for, arguably, an easy day by the sea. Very worth your consideration!
