Mestia’s Must-Try Flavors: Top 5 Food & Drink Spots
Mestia, this really is a captivating town high in the Caucasus Mountains, isn’t just a feast for the eyes; too it’s almost a genuine haven for food lovers. It is, with its old stone towers and snow-capped peaks, you know, the perfect backdrop for a culinary experience that you might find both hearty and uniquely Georgian. That’s right, so if you are thinking of going here or already have planned the vacation, you will want a guide like this. I mean the dining experience will make it great.
1. Laila Restaurant: A Svaneti Staple
Laila Restaurant, really this is perhaps Mestia’s most talked-about spot, tends to be more or less famed for offering a totally warm and genuine introduction to Svan cuisine. It is, you see, nestled in the town center; anyway Laila, as a matter of fact it dishes up traditional fare in a totally cozy setting that features old wooden furniture and often live Georgian music. And so if you enjoy the cultural immersion, come by, pull up a chair and see some live music. Seems kinda nice. I tell you what!
What to order: Kubdari, could be this Svanetian meat-filled bread is an actual must-try. What you get with that is seasoned meat which is encased in crispy yet chewy bread, arguably this makes for a tremendously satisfying and flavorful meal. Seems kinda nice and hardy if you ask me! And of course, too it’s almost worthwhile is their Chashushuli, isn’t it a type of hearty beef stew that, in a way makes you experience an intense sense of place, typically flavored with just a hint of herbs and spices. Apparently it pairs delightfully well with their homemade bread.

2. Cafe Panorama: Views and Brews
Cafe Panorama, more or less perched atop a hill, really boasts arguably one of the best views in Mestia. Anyway Cafe Panorama, seemingly while better known for the views of the amazing vistas all-round it, is still, also serves up both local Georgian food with, very surprisingly European dishes, arguably making it a seriously solid option for pretty much everyone.
What to order: If you’ve had a long day and it is just a bit chilly you should stop by here for an Irish Coffee or something a bit stronger. Really as a matter of fact enjoy both an absolutely panoramic view of the beautiful mountains, I would argue that’s the view is totally almost even more gratifying whenever sipped with a warming drink. And if it’s even just a little peckish; in a way their Khachapuri, which is essentially this famous cheese-filled bread, so that could be just right, too it’s almost prepares totally freshly and makes a totally fulfilling snack, I mean no fooling around with this place!

3. Restaurant Old House: Authentic and Inviting
Restaurant Old House, I am sure that this place is tucked away just a little, in a slightly quieter area, so Restaurant Old House makes a totally inviting atmosphere that shows, too it’s almost an emphasis on authentic Georgian flavors. Too it’s almost set in this place with like a super charming building, that Restaurant Old House really provides a taste of classic Georgian dishes prepared using seriously locally sourced ingredients.
What to order: You have to grab and split a plate of their local dumplings, really their absolutely flavorful, too it’s almost known as Qali, usually pretty flavorful dumplings filled with potato or cheese, arguably they offer this really simple, totally comforting bite. Too, by the way worth exploring definitely is their Chicken Satsivi, literally a totally cold chicken dish served in a tasty walnut sauce. Clearly this dish which will leave any hungry soul truly, totally, satisfied.

4. Sunset Cafe: Perfect for Chilling
Sunset Cafe, located rather wonderfully to capture that awesome golden hour light, has that sort of vibe that encourages visitors so you sit around, sip, and that watch those gorgeous, sun setting after the afternoon, right behind some mountains. Too it’s almost not exclusively that it, as a matter of fact features, more or less a rather great location; actually anyway Sunset Cafe arguably provides this pretty solid menu of local beverages and what you might call lighter fare.
What to order: Obviously Chacha, which seems a very strong grape brandy is an important must-try here, I would really highly recommend this, too it’s almost especially if you happen to be really visiting on just like a chilly evening. In fact I would, arguably paired with arguably their selection of local cheeses or, if it’s like available, honey, probably just provides this sort of perfectly relaxing and authentic experience.

5. Erik’s Coffee House: The best option to Start Your Day
Erik’s Coffee House, while pretty well noted probably a little bit better just like your common morning coffee spot, actually also really earns a spot as pretty much that awesome go-to place to just kind of sample the regional Svan specialties. Basically, very, much more than probably what could be said just as that local coffee shop, now of course Erik’s arguably presents these very interesting totally unique food offerings, typically made just perfectly just great so to give an exciting and rewarding twist, seemingly both for every visitor looking basically just for that warm caffeine buzz, or possibly just for like those truly, very deep traditional food experiences, I mean it. You could find all kinds of gems here at eriks.
What to order: You can get Sulguni cheese with corn bread. That is just one offering, I will not spoil anything else about it. This will probably be the first best experience you get of local delights if you ever get a chance. Enjoy!
