That’s where guided tours might be your new best friend! We are going to walk you through five really great Montpellier sightseeing tours. This is so you might experience the city in an interesting, memorable way.

1. Montpellier City Center Walking Tour

Place de la Comédie Montpellier

Right, this walking tour, it’s typically a great way to get acquainted with Montpellier’s heart. Usually, you’ll kick things off at Place de la Comédie. It’s, arguably, the city’s main square that has like, tons of activity. Is that so you see street performers? Very. Plenty of cafes? For sure. Oh, and just that buzzing energy? Definitely there. The guides, they really seem to bring the city’s history to life as you’re winding through those really narrow streets of the Écusson (that’s the old town, just FYI).

Actually, one thing that’s pretty memorable is usually when they stop at the Saint Pierre Cathedral. It’s because its impressive architecture has had its stories told over, well, centuries. We actually took this tour last year. What was fascinating? This local guide. The way they wove together historical facts together with the everyday anecdotes, like you were traveling through the history, right there. I mean, anyway, you’ll probably discover some quirky shops. There’s hidden squares along the way too! Plus, all sorts of photogenic spots which you’ll really appreciate.

Really, the great bit? Because these tours happen pretty regularly, it’s generally simple to slot one into your schedule. Make sure that you wear comfy shoes, since you’re doing quite a bit of walking, right? Don’t forget a camera. Is that so you document everything? Sure. Plus maybe a water bottle because, usually, that sun can be quite intense, depending when you’re there!

2. Montpellier Segway Tour

Montpellier Segway Tour

Right so, if you want a super fun and perhaps a somewhat modern way to explore Montpellier, what could work is a Segway tour! Are you zipping through the city? It sure seems like that. Well, at a somewhat decent pace anyway, this will, in effect, cover way more ground compared to just walking. What are the tours usually? Typically, they’re starting with like, a quick training session that’s just ensuring everyone’s feeling confident on their Segways, so they don’t do face plants! The tours, arguably, often lead you through must-see locations like the Antigone district with its seriously striking architecture, then like, onto the banks of the Lez River which offers really gorgeous views.

We gave this Segway thing a try some years back and seriously, it felt so freeing to, arguably, glide along those boulevards, just feeling the breeze. In some respects, that’s where you’re getting all those historical facts from the guide via radio, which seems convenient! Now, the Segway does, admittedly, take just a bit of getting used to. Right, but trust me on this, you usually get the hang of it pretty quickly and before you know it, it can really become second nature. As a matter of fact, what I think is a smart move, you should perhaps look at tours that are operating in smaller groups! Now why is that so? Well, to be frank, you just tend to get a lot more personalized attention that way.

You don’t even need to think about driving. You get to visit a couple of family-run wineries where then, as a matter of fact, you are discovering their winemaking process. From that vine right down to that bottle, is that correct? It may just be.

Back when we participated, one winemaker was telling us like, every tiny little detail of the vineyard’s history. More or less, we are learning the distinct elements that really gives Pic Saint-Loup wines character! Now the wine tasting is always the big part of the experience. In other words, where you are sampling the different reds, the rosés and the whites. In a way, they are all boasting, arguably, distinct regional flavors. Montpellier bike tour

Oh! You’re wanting to explore things in a really leisurely, active sort of way? Why don’t you consider doing a bike tour? So Montpellier and all its bicycle lanes might be a seriously perfect combo. The bike tours often seem to offer you various routes. Very varied. In a way, these routes might often cover some of the main spots like Place de la Comédie, L’Arc de Triomphe, and the Jardin des Plantes! That could just be France’s oldest botanical garden there, right. The guides really provide tidbits on, perhaps, the city’s history. And maybe there are also some spots that a standard tour bus usually wouldn’t take you.

Back when we decided to go on that bike adventure, one of the nicest parts was biking down to the Lez River, arguably feeling the sunshine, passing through the greenery that’s around the city outskirts. Anyway, quite a lot of these companies that are renting out bikes often feature options for families, even too. That is so you see bikes for all ages are there, plus there are those e-bikes for anyone who doesn’t really want to sweat it out too much. Montpellier street art

Are you after seeing Montpellier coming at you from a different angle? Have you tried taking the street art tour, maybe? A bit hidden, right? What, at least to me anyway, might often be a cool element of Montpellier, arguably, that it does feature a pretty buzzing street art scene. Really! Quite a few of these tours will take you all through certain districts, which is where, naturally, some walls seem like a blank canvas for artists. So why don’t they take the streets!

What’s the thing I liked a great deal? It could be having someone, right there to tell you all these backgrounds. Or, like, these intentions which each artist had. Right, it may make that art even more meaningful. Apparently, this kind of tour is absolutely perfect for travelers. Very. They want some local culture, very, very much, in a somewhat unique kind of method. It is possible, then, you can easily book them via several local tourism websites or from specialized street art tour agencies that, anyway, are focusing totally on art, so they seem credible to me. You might want to wear comfortable shoes! Very! Now, for reasons just that it usually might often involve quite a lot of wandering around as you explore! It looks like these, probably, will involve having somebody with experience, right, in terms of being there in front of it, and maybe describing it a great deal more as well.
