My 2025 Amanda Cruise Ha Long Bay Review from Hanoi (2 Days)
I was really looking for a special way to see Ha Long Bay, you know, something a bit different from the usual trips. As a matter of fact, the pictures of the Amanda Cruise just kept catching my eye with its super sleek and modern look. So, I finally booked the two-day, one-night trip that starts from Hanoi for a 2025 getaway. As a matter of fact, the main dining area looked so stylish, with big windows from the floor to the ceiling. But the real surprise was the cabin. After we settled in, lunch was served in the main dining room, and honestly, it was a fantastic spread. There was basically a bit of everything, from fresh seafood to local Vietnamese dishes and some Western options too, so everyone could find something they liked. As we ate, the ship started to glide deeper into the bay, and the views were just breathtaking, you know. Then, the afternoon’s big event was kayaking around the Luon Cave area. So, they give you all the gear and a quick guide on how to paddle. Paddling through a low cave opening into a hidden, quiet lagoon inside a karst was a seriously magical experience. The water was a little cool but super clear, and being so close to the giant rock faces was just incredible. Some people decided to take a ride on a bamboo boat instead, which seemed very relaxing. Later on, back on the ship, most of us went up to the sundeck for sunset. Actually, they had a happy hour going on, and watching the sky change colors over the bay with a drink in hand was, like, the perfect end to the afternoon’s adventures. The staff even put on a small cooking demonstration, showing us how to make fresh spring rolls, which was a fun little touch.
An Evening on the Water: Dinner, Squid Fishing, and Quiet
As a matter of fact, when the sun went down, the whole atmosphere of the bay changed, becoming really peaceful and almost a little mysterious. The ship anchored in a quiet spot for the night, away from the other boats, which was very nice. Dinner was a set menu this time, a really nicely put-together meal with several courses that showcased a lot of skill from the kitchen team. Seriously, every dish was presented beautifully and tasted just as good. It felt quite upscale, sort of like a fine dining experience, but on the water. After dinner, they offered squid fishing off the back of the boat, which was actually more fun than I thought it would be. Even though I didn’t catch anything, you know, it was just enjoyable hanging out with other passengers under the stars. The boat’s lights attracted the squid, and it was pretty neat to see. For those not into fishing, the bar was open, or you could just relax on your balcony. Honestly, the quiet of the bay at night is something pretty special; there’s just a profound sense of calm out there.
Waking Up in Paradise and Visiting a Cave
Okay, so I highly recommend getting up early to catch the sunrise. A few of us were on the sundeck for a Tai Chi session, which was a very gentle way to start the day. Watching the sun come up and burn the morning mist off the water is a sight I won’t forget. A light breakfast was served right after, you know, coffee and pastries to get you going. Then, we headed out to visit Sung Sot Cave, or the “Surprising Cave.” You have to climb a bunch of stairs to get to the entrance, but wow, it’s so worth it. The inside is just huge, with three massive chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites that are all lit up. Our guide was great, pointing out formations that looked like animals and telling stories about the cave. It’s pretty popular, so it gets a little busy, but the sheer size of it is just incredible. After the cave visit, we got back to the ship, and it was time for a full brunch. This was another big meal with lots of choices, so you definitely don’t leave feeling hungry. As we ate, the ship slowly made its way back towards the harbor, giving us one last chance to soak in all that stunning scenery.
