Newark’s Best Food: Top 5 Can’t-Miss Spots

Newark food scene

Newark, that city in New Jersey that’s almost always buzzing, might just surprise you, you know? People from different cultures have made it their home, which has very much created a super interesting food scene. That’s where we will be talking about. There is food ranging from soul food joints that seem to wrap you in a warm hug to places that present dishes like artistic masterpieces; Newark has pretty much got something for everybody. We went digging for some delicious experiences and we put this list together so you can taste some pretty wonderful treats.

1. Adega Grill: Spanish & Portuguese Flavors

Adega Grill Newark

Adega Grill, well it is located in Newark’s Ironbound area, so it’s pretty much a celebration of Spanish and Portuguese flavors, is that it? You could almost smell the seafood being cooked the moment you walk in; very often, Adega is super packed, full of chatter, and generally lively. When you’re here, you might want to try their Paella Valenciana. What seems to make this dish stand out might just be the amazing combination of seafood, chicken, and chorizo all cooked perfectly in this saffron-infused rice, so it ends up being incredibly delicious. Also, very much get a taste of their grilled octopus, a fan favorite, it seems. The octopus is very often grilled to this fantastic tenderness with a little smoky flavor and sprinkled with some paprika. I mean, it’s delicious. This place offers meals with a lot of flavor so its probably for the best, if you like your food full of that.

2. Marcus B&P: American Cuisine with a Twist

Marcus B&P Newark

Marcus B&P is that place which seems to mix traditional American cooking with new interesting twists; It’s very often in the heart of Newark and well, it draws folks in with, I would say its modern, industrial vibe. You might just notice that exposed brick and also those large windows, that really, honestly just add to the atmosphere. You very much could start with their short rib dumplings, which seem to be a delicious combination of rich, braised short rib enclosed in like these soft dumplings with a zingy sauce to put them over the top. If you want, very, very try their brick chicken – cooked till super crispy on the outside, and the meat always seems so juicy and good on the inside. You may want to know their menu switches up every once in a while to follow the seasons and get the best ingredients possible, so every trip might just bring a new tasty surprise.

3. Casa d’Paco: Authentic Spanish Tapas

Casa d'Paco Newark

Casa d’Paco seems to almost transport you straight to Spain, with you know, its selection of super authentic tapas, might it? You may like that the inside of the restaurant almost makes you feel like you’ve walked into some rustic spot located in Madrid, with its walls covered in what I think might just be Spanish art and, of course, the smell of garlic is always in the air. Order yourself several of the small plates for, you know, the complete experience. The gambas al ajillo is very often a hit. What those seem to be are shrimp sautéed in this garlic-infused oil and very often a little chili and are super yummy to scoop up with crusty bread. And that patatas bravas with this slightly spicy tomato sauce and aioli, are really, I would say are a must. Those dishes are not just very, very good; they totally get Spanish food just right, I think.

4. Blaze Restaurant: Soul Food Done Right

Blaze Restaurant Newark

Blaze Restaurant really is, very often a place that makes soul food that’s very, very comforting. That spot may just feel very much like coming home because it’s usually got this super inviting vibe going on, like your grandma just cooked dinner. People seem to come for what some would describe as very genuine takes on soul food standards. See, you might like to give the fried chicken a try; I mean, they might just know how to do it best by ensuring the outside is wonderfully crunchy while making sure the chicken is very juicy inside. Maybe try some sides such as collard greens which appear to be simmered with smoked turkey or, you know, mac & cheese prepared in this creamy style; I mean they both taste wonderful with that chicken. Eating here almost seems to be about appreciating meals cooked with lots of soul, you know? Also, their sweet tea seems great, is that it?

5. Tops Diner: Classic Diner Experience

Tops Diner Newark

Tops Diner seems to give you that like quintessential diner feeling with, that I see, its gleaming chrome, long menus, and the fact that they are almost open at whatever hour. Maybe it is one of the older diners around, they did upgrade the spot; yet, that doesn’t stop the spot from very often radiating nostalgia mixed with energy. I would say its very long menu seems to be that great, because there might just be something to suit everyone, it’s almost certain. Very often the disco fries seems very tempting — that are very, very piled up high with, maybe, gravy and, in my experience, gooey mozzarella cheese, is that it? Folks seem to be fans of their burgers made just how you want them and served on very yummy brioche buns; That might just be nice. Tops really does seems like one of those comfortable spots where you might just be wanting an early breakfast, quick bite at midnight, you know?
