Beamish, the Living Museum of the North
Beamish is that fantastic living museum. Now it gives you the chance so, to literally step backwards. That means it goes back in time, and what a blast, into what life actually was like up in the North back in the day. That open-air museum? Well, it really shows you all sorts of slices of life during differing years, ranging a bit from the 1800s to the 1900s. Each bit has actors dressed up like they are really living that bit of history.
As a matter of fact, you can visit an old-fashioned pit village. Or, really, check out a farm from times gone by, pop a bit into a school from the early 1900s, or take a trip on an old tram. Each building actually has people who know so, much about the past there. It’s hard not to, anyway, get really taken by how genuinely Beamish brings the North’s past to life. It seems especially popular with both the kiddos and adults alike. The sheer attention displayed to every single detail makes Beamish an absolute winner. Arguably, it might be seen as the region’s crown jewel.

The Sage, Gateshead (now the Glasshouse International Centre for Music)
Anyway, although it is newly named The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, it was widely known a bit as the Sage Gateshead. It is like your really cool beacon right there. You know, sitting right on the Quayside. That building, what an icon!, is a marvel all on its own. So it is all about live music.
You might, literally, come here to see anything very ranging. Is that bit of music classical, pop, folk, or something totally different? In any case, they likely have that. Besides all the acts they put on, you know they host lessons so, you can improve your skills or take part as part of local community events. Remember though that because of how different the halls here at The Glasshouse is? The audio experiences are pretty incredible. Oh and what, it offers totally fantastic perspectives right out across Newcastle that’s why visiting should go directly onto your bucket list.

Durham Cathedral
Durham Cathedral actually is pretty hard to ignore. Towering really powerfully over Durham.
