Paros Food: Top 5 Drinks & Eats You Have To Try!
Alright, so you’re thinking of swinging by Paros, huh? Very nice decision! It’s an island that tends to boast stunning beaches, super awesome whitewashed villages, and, as a matter of fact, quite a cool food scene that just might blow your mind. Now, as I was saying, don’t just stick to the usual tourist traps, that would be a waste. As a matter of fact, I want to let you in on some seriously tasty eats and drinks that, you know, give you a genuine taste of what Paros is all about. Right then, lets get started, my personal top 5 that are totally worth checking out.
1. Savoring Seafood at Parikia’s Tavernas
First things first, is that if you find yourself in Parikia, which tends to be the island’s main town and all, it’s pretty much essential to wander around the waterfront. Really! Here, you might find a bunch of traditional tavernas just perfect for sampling some of the freshest seafood you might ever come across. Anyway, what’s really cool is that these places often source their catches directly from the local fishermen, and stuff. In other words, this tends to ensure you’re getting the real deal, which is quite special, too it’s almost like a catch to plate situation.
Now, as a matter of fact, one of my super favorites is a grilled octopus at this certain taverna named “The Little Octopus” and as a matter of fact, this dish usually comes simply seasoned, just so it brings out that natural, briny taste that you just, like, wouldn’t believe. Of course, this whole place has been going for decades, which kind of adds to the charm, in a way. It’s the sort of place where, honestly, you might find yourself chatting with the owner’s son about their boat or the fishing regulations or just about, right, absolutely anything! Similarly to a family gathering!
Now, it’s worth pointing out that dishes might be a little expensive, like around €15-€25 for a main seafood dish at the tavernas in Parikia. You know, it seems expensive, right, it seems kind of expensive, but as a matter of fact, it’s very, very, very well worth the price for the quality and the setting. Oh and by the way, don’t forget to ask what the day’s catch happens to be. Basically, that’s how you get something very fresh and perhaps not listed on the regular menu, that’s for sure.

2. Loukoumades: Sweetening Your Day in Naoussa
Anyway, if you just so happen to be craving something fairly sweet, alright, why don’t you head over to Naoussa? Actually, Naoussa is a beautiful little village that, usually, everyone loves! First, you just have to try Loukoumades. They’re very much like these small, golden donuts that as a matter of fact, usually get drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. In short, imagine the kind of scent that’s, I don’t know, almost heavenly when you walk by a place that makes them fresh, basically! That sort of caramelized honey and cinnamon scent! Oh my god it gets me every time!
Very, very, very much a local favorite in Naoussa happens to be “Kafenio Palia Agora,” this one, you see, just sits in the old market square and does these Loukoumades that actually melt in your mouth. Now, that sounds cliché right, but like, honestly, they literally melt, right? So what you want to do is grab a portion (usually around €5), maybe order an iced coffee, and just, okay, sit, and basically soak up all the atmosphere, the real Greek way you could say, by the way.
So that’s it then, locals actually swear these Loukoumades taste the best when, clearly, they’re still warm, is that they, perhaps, should be your first thing in the morning or that little afternoon treat. It’s almost as if the perfect little break that allows for some prime people-watching and allows you to, basically, recharge, literally and figuratively, more or less! So anyway, do I recommend them, like seriously I recommend them! Do it!

3. Wine Tasting at Moraitis Winery
Now then, thinking of drinking something? Obviously, Greece tends to be kinda famous for its wines, and as a matter of fact, Paros actually happens to have its own special vineyards that you might just want to see! Actually, one that just seems to stand out has got to be Moraitis Winery. It’s very, very, very cool and it’s family-run, very traditional, with vineyards that have seemingly existed for generations. As a matter of fact, it would surprise you!
Anyway, that family tends to offer tours where you, okay, get to walk among the vines, which is pretty awesome, and, literally, you get to learn a thing or two about their wine-making process and, alright, taste a bit too! Right, in particular, their Monemvasia tends to be worth a try; it’s a white wine that has got like all these floral notes and goes really nice with just, very much, almost any local food. Basically, what you get tends to be something a bit special, is that it is basically a blend of local grapes and the sea air influence, naturally!
So, anyway, expect to pay like around €10-€20 for a wine-tasting session there. Seriously! A trip that lasts a couple of hours. Just like that, it’s an investment of your time and your cash in experiencing genuine Parian culture and taste! Actually, there’s a tip that’s well worth remembering: As a matter of fact, is that you, you just may want to book your visit, for example, during harvest season (that would be late August to early September) so that you just get to see what goes on! The whole process in action! I was just there at that time last year, honest.

4. Local Cheeses at Traditional “kafeneio”
Right then, searching for an easy and tasty lunch? Naturally, find the oldest “kafeneio” which is usually hidden somewhere in the quieter villages, for example, Lefkes or Marmara. Actually, these kafeneio’s can often be easily identified by, say, older folks just playing backgammon outside, in short! As a matter of fact, what they offer has got to be something authentic in local cheeses and some easy bites to fill the space, really.
Clearly, try the local cheeses; there’s a pretty decent variety around that taste and differ depending on how much age they’ve gotten. Obviously! The cheese is almost, very creamy. Often, for example, you may want to find one served alongside some olives and rustic bread. Obviously! Typically, just like you, like a great Mediterranean snack goes a long way. As a matter of fact, why wouldn’t you like olives, bread, and cheese, anyway!
Basically, prices? Right, so unbelievably cheap! What you are probably looking at would be somewhere around €5-€10 for a very decent plate to share and there’s also drinks involved there too! Alright? Anyway, this happens to be less about some elaborate food experience. And so, I have to say, something more along the lines of taking part in some authentic village culture, alright? Just, relaxing with, say, old men gossiping on, alright, this sun-soaked porch with an unbelievably pleasant view and so on! How awesome would that be, at the end of the day?

5. Cocktails with a View at Santa Maria Beach Bars
Right, what’s next? Right, for those sunsets we see everyday, how about cocktails at Santa Maria beach. Santa Maria happens to be popular among windsurfers, and, in general, pretty laid back and cool, anyway! Naturally, there happens to be some beach bars here that absolutely allow you to sip at cool cocktail creations looking at, in short, absolutely breathtaking views, literally! Really!
Well, one very nice place called “SANTAmERIA Beach Bar Restaurant”. Actually, there, I was able to experience something special and also a pretty extensive cocktail list there! Oh and also? Naturally! The bartenders actually seemed to like experimenting too; therefore, don’t be shy to maybe ask for some crazy mixture of ingredients to create a special version. You’ll most likely find some super-nice drink here to enjoy, definitely!
Alright, price-wise? Alright, you may want to budget around €10-€15 for some pretty crafted cocktails. As I was saying, however, for that, what you’ll get isn’t just some drink and a view of, you know, people doing surfing; as a matter of fact, you get the whole summer atmosphere. So basically it’s very, very much worth it if you ask me, that is what I was experiencing!
